  1. Ours are 33mm I think, from collingwoods
  2. For the drawbridge ?. We need about 2.5m * 1.8m. Happy to fab up the frame but where can I get the walk over mesh and is that the right name?
  3. ‘... I know two magic tricks, elephant and windmill....’
  4. You can set each room independently. Or all from the Ultra, or all from the app.
  5. We have heatmisers, 7 neos, 1ultra and the hub. Works well, good app. Can’t fault it really!
  6. While I was still working inside in the office ?
  7. He’s handy with a pecker that man. He took down the undercroft/extension on our place.
  8. For those who are interested this is the plan. We’ll use rebar for the reed body. We’ll use hammered flat and split copper pipe to make the leaves. The heads will be dipped like candles into the glowing resin as posted above.
  9. If you got some spare that would be really handy. Gives us something to mock up with ?
  10. Looks like Rebecca and Richard have done you proud there! Looks fab
  11. I think this could be the winner. We can dip the rebar like candles ? Some of the locals don’t know we are bonkers yet. Making metal candles should sort that out !
  12. I have a plan! We will have a rill in front of the house with a drawbridge into the house. The rill will be about 5m * 2m or so. It needs a bit of vertical interest. I want to make reeds from rebar with the top of the Reed glowing as a very gentle outside light. I think I could bind rope to make the reed head. But how to introduce light? I need a glowing hollow sausage. All ideas of how to find such items would be very welcome
  13. I think I’m just about ready to re-engage with that post build!
  14. The flat rate scheme is much easier to administer. Hence when we looked most small operations where on horizon. (As was I when I had my own services business) And as you mentioned. I reckon most of them are buying more volume and therefore getting a better deal. Not on all stuff but quite a bit. We only hunted out deals on major items. It’s a question of the saving if you are £20 an hour or £75 per hour as a professional how much are you saving spending 4hrs finding the best price?
  15. It’s also worth noting this scheme only works on bigger builders who are beyond the flat rate vat scheme in turnover. If not then the 5% vat just costs them 10% of the job.
  16. So part of the challenge you’ll have there as well I suspect is a lack of trade accounts to buy through. We took the view if needed to be win win for us and a builder doing it so we made sure we bought enough services and they bought a lot of materials
  17. Interesting area, we benefited from this using a main contractor who billed for all other services on a T & M basis. Worked for us. Ymmv
  18. Makes sense ours is from a lounge to the atrium.
  19. I’m not sure sound bleed is an issue. (Unless it’s in building regs) our window is fitted and currently has a 10mm gap above it. It needs me, some compriband and a brave pill to access it and I’m seriously considering making it openable once we have building regs signed off. It’ll let us vent heat from the lounge into the atrium in winter and open the whole house around the negative space oak tree to have an extra party mode.
  20. We have one, it’s pretending to be an old door in a converted space. It connects the atrium to the upstairs lounge. It’s just a standard velfac double glazed unit. Only one on the house!
  21. I’m thinking about bleeding off as opposed to a full stop when I have a pelton/turgo on it.
  22. Starting to get a bit more in-depth with this. Plan is to create a wooden intake with a 100mm outlet. This can be sited and we’ll see if 100mm is a viable pipe size if so, we’ll probably then run two 63mm mdpe’s down to a plenum and then stick a nozzle on it and see how high we can squirt some water ?
  23. Hmm. Looks like it might feel tight round the island. I’d be tempted (from that one shot) to go for a peninsula possibly with open shelves so you can see through. Then you get a sense of size from the peninsula instead of wall units, small gap, small island, small gap. Do you have a plan we can annotate at (assuming you’d like other people to chip in ? )
  24. Remember you need your hero pieces, not everything’s needs to be a hero. A couple of good bits will lift it all
  25. That bit of stone above for a ton is from a granite supplier. Suspect it’s a demo section. What about two colours of that joined up in oak or similar?
