Honestly? None but knowledge and experience essential tbh. You need a CSCS card. However, every supplier recommends fully trained/certified product installers to install their product. It’s not rocket science but it’s not an easy job, can be physically demanding, with long hours, long distance travelling, constant B&B/hotel and lots of time away from family. I would say that knowledge of the buildings, materials used, equipment (which all require training and certification on) is required.

Quick update, we eventually received the daughters number, one of our install teams are going out on Sunday to survey and we’ve had numerous offers of free doors, trims, mastic etc. The auld man is going to be treated well, and he’ll have a well finished and nice looking door after this. Kent news apparently want to cover the story but that’s not what we’re all doing this for. The window industry might have a bad rep and rightly so on occasions but it is also full of really nice and helpful people. I’ll post an update once it’s surveyed/installed. To those that donated to the just giving page, it’s not reached it’s target, it’s unlikely to be needed and I’ll find out whats happening with the donations. Thank you.

If they’re suggesting that, then the system must have really poor performance and changing the glass ain’t going to do shit tbh. A shit frame is still a shit frame.
-
Why would you? It’s not needed for the reasons you have said.
-
Wish I could but I don’t have any of their details.
-
We’ve got the door covered and trims installation etc. sorted. Just waiting on confirmation of address etc and it’ll be taken care of. but yeah @Temp @joe90 couldn’t agree more.

I don’t have much info to go with but one of the dads in a group I’m in has started a crowdfund to help a 90 year old man out who has been totally ripped off. Massively ripped off and makes you really angry and sick. They have installed this as an external door, you can’t even lock it. I have nothing but I can use to help. Looking to see if anyone in the kent area might have something that they can help with. I wish I was joking but this is no joke from what I know. I’ll get the crowdfund link but I’m more hoping someone has a door they no longer need, that “might fit”.

Bracket fix, why would you want to screw through the frame? Only screw through the frame if no other alternative in all honesty. Removing the beads, you'll need to be careful removing the excess silicon, if you catch the edge of glass and it shatters, it's a new pane required. Toughened glass's weakest point is the edges. You'll also need to be careful when putting the bead back on and pinning it, the pin should arc back away from the glass and usually would be done in factory with different type of nail gun. You'll need to do this with a hammer and pins and straight and will need to be careful not to nip the glass. You'll then need to silicon again as it looks like a wet sealed system. Why would you need to remove the glass to install multipoint lock keeps? Does the door not already have multipoint locking?

Ideas wanted to pass Part O Simplified modelling or to use Dynamic modelling?
craig replied to Susie's topic in Ventilation
Hi Susie, Thanks for sending the info through, I'll have a look into this but I really haven't dealt with this much but haven't read what I have and know what I know, this new part O is a pile of shite (excuse the French). Absolute joke and from reading others with a substantial amount more knowledge on this than me, they're of a similar opinion & the simplified method is far from simple. -
That’s just front drainage cap, easily replaced, easily lost. Nothing to be concerned with. I’d be looking at the following. 1: Scuffs/marks on frames 2: Scratches on glass if not visible from 3m away (looking through and not at the glass) it’s not a complaint. 3: That the fixings look good/solid 4: Window / door operation is good 5: They are installed plumb/level & square 6: Correctly foamed/taped (i.e no visible light/tape flapping). 7: Handles working, applied straight and no scratches 8: With doors that the height is installed correctly taken into account the finished floor. 9: no damaged hinge covers / drainage slot covers whether visible or concealed 10: External cill is the correct depth, taken into account external finish/stone cill etc. 11: That all gaskets/seals are good, correct lengths and not twisted/damaged. 12: They were cleaned prior to installers leaving from excess residue.

Has been for over a decade, the architects colour of choice tbh. I hate it, I see it everyday but it generally works with everything.
-
Retain the same colour or as close as possible, my personal opinion is changing the colour will lose the character.
-
It’s not always possible or practical but the best way. It’s not wrong how you've done it just the recommended way.
-
4.3m lengths, should be applied around the window in one length (if possible, you might need more than 1 roll per window/door) and pinched at the corners.
-
That's in, pretty straight forward and not overly complicated.
-
When the windows are being installed. It needs to expand against the wall, not have something compress the compriband. Sorry for being blunt but your installers an idiot and just doesn’t want to do it.
-
Happy to do so, if you send me a message on Buildhub I'll have a look for you, if you could send any pictures etc. to assist that would be great.

A quick google https://www.mepa-shop.de/en/window-sills/aluminum-window-sill-accessories/anti-drumming-strips-for-window-sills/anti-drumming-strips-for-window-sills

You can get anti drumming with them to minimise that.
