  1. Double glazing at 1.2Ug, isn’t bad at all but expected Ug now for double glazed. I can only suggest getting a system that can handle the weight.
  2. Factory glued but also done on site when required, as sometimes you need to fix through the frame and glass needs to be supplied loose.
  3. What do I use when it's a cost thing? Aluplast Ideal 4000 (Double) Aluplast Idea 8000 (Triple) Alternatively I would look at Rehau, Gealan or Salamander.
  4. Very easy to replace, obviously not as easy as glass into the frame without glue but it's a security thing as well. Doesn't take much longer to remove the glue, clean and put new unit in with the glue. It's also an extra, not standard.

  9. Yes, just trim it back, will make your life easier. Without knowing the product supplied, I can't really say what the values are as I would be guessing but in principle, if triple and insulated frame (foam injected into the frame), you're probably looking at the Energeto 8000.
  10. Foam just needs tidied up and then plaster, also aluplast, well done. 4000, 8000 or Energeto? Did you purchase from a UK supplier?
  11. You should be able to take measurements internally/externally in the same fashion. That diagram is perfect. The internal measurements compared to external will be different and depends on finishes, they could be the same but if brick to brick externally, then I’d expect internal to be slightly smaller as the window measurement will be reduced by the plasterboard (if it is not sitting behind the ingo/check reveal). I doubt it is a check reveal if you’re in England.

  14. They don’t have a clue because they don’t check the details or enquire where the reed contacts come out of the frame. Most don’t even know where the reed contacts are located.

  16. It's basically UK standard v's European DIN standard. To confuse matters, European entrance doors are usually viewed from the external side.
  17. Birds, 9x10 it is birds, they love the mastic for some reason. I've had to repair mastic on numerous windows and rubber seals over the years.

  19. Those fixings would be ideal in this scenario for you.
  20. Have you considered just using glazing beads and hidden fixings though the bead and finish with glazing tape and silicone bead around the glass? The beads are generally what hold the glass in please.
  21. Either agrees or took the lesser of two evils, I'll go with he just didn't want to fight it further. Either with legal advise or not. I'd suggest he has been informed that he'd lose and incur the legal costs as well to defend it further and would end up costing him a lot more, an excellent result for you. Unfortunate it has had to go the way it has.

  23. No, no slope required as that is the area where the glass packers need to be. It is externally glazed though, which means the cladding needs to be removed to get access to the glass if it breaks/fails. This is the case for most outward opening systems, the clips break when removed, so they need to be replaced and service engineers absolutely hate them, as it's it a lot of time (money)/effort to remove all the cladding, place the clips back, and fix the cladding back on. That also means they need to have the right tool to turn the clips to hold the cladding in place (they get broken removing the cladding, easier to snap the lug than turn the clip).
