Not nice mate - hopefully this crew aren't proposing to do any facing brick for you? This is my internal block if you want to compare.

Get it ordered mate - stock is going fast. I had to re-order the oven and combi as 'in stock' to HomeAO clearly means that they haven't got any and will order from Siemens and get a nasty surprise. Tossers.
-
It would appear that the latest shortage is now kitchen appliances - blaming the chip shortage as a reason to stop you making chips! Bosch / Siemens (which is naturally what I am getting) appears to be one of the worst - our supplier quoted me Jan / Feb - maybe.... Mad dash on the internet and I managed to get all 8 appliances albeit from 5 different suppliers. This lot arrived yesterday hence the panic!

Have a look at Skill Builder on Youtube - he was rather passionate about bedding it in cement and I agree - I have heard of so many of these cracking when just adhesive is used.

Wetroom Tiled areas - plasterboard or backerboard?
Faz replied to Conor's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Can't go wrong with hardi backer. However, no-one on mine wanted to use it so up went green board. I used 3 coats of the Everbuild wet room tanking system on all wet areas - simple paint on application. -

Just outside Ramsey. Good luck with yours. Give me a shout if you are stuck for trades - I have had some great people through the site. Only problem has been the tiler - he does great work but is hardly ever there. Starts at 10 and disappears at 3 on the rare occasions he does rock up. -

It would probably add £30 psf or so. Trade pricing would make a similar difference. -

On a greenfield new build in Cambs (to a high spec - mvhr etc) I am looking at topping out at £110psf. My time has been for free mind you - forkie, site manager, handyman etc. The final costs depend on what you are hiring in - best of luck with it mate if you press the button. -
-
Even worse - she might start moaning at you and you certainly won't give a shit and won't make any attempt to hide the fact!
-
My advice is to nail down the spec with the Mrs before you begin or asap. I build spec houses all the time and it is fine - my house has been a total nightmare. I have double power points installed which are going to be behind larder units in the utility (endless changes there ffs!), don't know what vanities and sinks we are getting (tiling starts tomorrow) - the list is endless. Perhaps I should just stfu and not ask? I can see why builders penalise variations - they are horrible. It has made me hate the place tbh. Either that or I just need a break (now booked thankfully).
-
First thing I would do in the morning is get rid of that 'we apologise for the inconvenience' sign' - just makes people think that you actually might give a shit if they complain!
-
It is horrible mate - knock it all down and start again. You are diligent or lucky that you picked this up right at the start. Looks like the lintel they intend to cast is only going to have 25mm of bearing too. Total bollocks.

That is the difference between gun grade and rattle can foam - at least with the gun you drop in what is needed allowing for expansion. Unless the whole lot blows up in your face as you screw the tin to the gun!
-
Spare a thought for my poor plumber - I had been extolling the virtues of gun grade foam (which he hadn't used before tbh) and he hooked up a can of 'No Nonsense' crap that exploded all over him - I tried to help but was mainly just pissing myself with laughter. He looked like a snowman - in July... Moral of the story - get decent foam.
-
I thought your hands were used to being a bit 'sticky'? Back to the op - I imagine the foam has gone on from the inside - shouldn't be enough to blow the render - you might want to be tapping the whole lot to see if it has bonded properly.
-
We had a scheme with 88 flats with external metal balconies - the balconies were in Millboard but the terraces were in timber decking - passed it's EPS1 with no issues.

What products do you think will be banned/worth avoiding using?
Faz replied to CalvinHobbes's topic in Ireland
Sounds like an opportunity for 1 last major site fire! It all ends up getting burnt anyway - it just depends on how far it is shipped to find someone to toss the match... Nothing like getting rid of excess pallets mind - cheers me up every time. -

Plastic bags is one thing - pretty much everything that arrives on my site is swaddled in layers of polythene. I bet my little site of 3 has got through 30 acres+ of plastic sheeting just on shite being delivered. -
Looking good mate - like the idea of the island though not sure what it would be used for. Might see if I can do something similar although time is running out for changes....

Engineered wood threads and risers on concrete stairs
Faz replied to moldy's topic in General Flooring
The oak stair I got from Stairbox had solid treads, veneer risers and engineered strings and newels.- 1 reply

I didn't want posts and spiders tbh so the bottom glass clamp was the answer. I will be doing mine fairly soon and am in north Cambs - not far from Lincs if you wanted to have a look?
-
If they have granted planning then the ship has sailed I would have thought unless you want to embark on a legal voyage of Judicial Review. Most JR's are brought in the name of people with no assets and no money for a reason mind.... Any chance of a mild amiable conversation with next door over a coffee or beer?
-
I am doing the same - glass clamp down and then fixed through the roofing. What you do is use a rubber / bitumen sealer washer around each fixing which is then compressed as the bolt is secured. Done it in the past and it is fairly bombproof -

Slingers course completed July 20, telehandler ticket valid to Oct 23. It will be fine mate. Only problem with the scaffolding is that it is still there! Will be a milestone to get rid of all of that in 2 weeks time - beers will be had!!!
