You should get a decent flexible liner for no more than £20 per metre, and allow about £150 for accessories.
-
You ll probably find its bit too big for working at the stoves best - the stove is likely to be 6 inch or maybe even 5 inch and therefore I d look into lining it. What price have you been quoted? Flue liner is one of those silly industries with high retail prices and high discounts. Admittedly the accessories end up costing as much as a flue.

What size is the clay flue?

Picking this thread up again as I need to sort mine in a couple of weeks... What is the best way for waterproofing/tanking a ground floor wetroom on screed and using a geberit shower channel. I was looking at the Impey membrane systems for the floor and my questions are: What is the best product for the walls - tile backer board, moisture resistant plasterboard etc. Do I need to fully tank the walls or just the joints of the tile board and floor junction?
-
Wall build up is 140mm timber frame filled with 120mm pir, additional 30mm pir, vapour/air barrier, 25mm battens, plasterboard and final skim. My plan is to tile the floor downstairs/lay the wooden floor upstairs. Then i will fit the renderplas shadow gap profiles and have it boarded onto these before final skimming. I should be attempting next month if you have time for me to be a gunea pig first.

And anyone know a good source of pu glue with quick delivery? Screwfix seems quite expensive. alterntively, would this be fine...... http://www.screwfix.com/p/evo-stik-wood-adhesive-exterior-1ltr/81882 ??
-
Yes, sorry, should have addressed the message. I m going to go with 300mm centres on the screws so about 30 per board, plus glue to battens and joints. 60mm putting me 13 mm into the osb. Let's see if screwfix have 3000 in stock.....
-
What spacing on the screws? and will 60mm be sufficient. Would put me 10mm into the osb sub floor.
-
Aka the Welsh Warrior? Must be one of his many bait times soon.
-
I assumed I d marine ply over the chipboard in these areas prior to tiling. Is this sufficient?
-
400 centres - seemed a lot of screws to me for 150m2 of flooring hence I thought I would check!
-
Done - caberfloor p5 ordered. £7.10 a sheet. Just checked and osb sub floor was nailed - would therefore try and screw through this into the joists but as my battens run perpendicular to my joists, I m unlikely to find them again. I will have to settle for screwing through the battens into the osb. Will now get on the case of the screws and glue. Any idea on glue quantity? Screws I was going to assume 150mm centres - so 64 per 2.4 x 0.6 sheet? Is this overkill?
-
Not too much of a worry for me as I m on holiday til next week and just have to order the stuff and arrange chippies. ? Final floor is some going to be engineered wooden flooring - I have ordered samples for when I get home. I ll ask the chippies to glue and screw the floor. I think it's 22mm but will double check my drawings. Would you suggest a 50mm screw would be about right or should I go a little longer and screw into the osb below the battens?

Need to get my first floor flooring down this weekend as the ufh has been laid. Quick question as I need to order it asap in the morning.. Floor build up is currently joists, osb, 25mm battens with knauf insulation between, ufh spreader plates. Leaving the chipboard and final wooden floor to go on. The question is, is standard chipboard ok or are there better choices. I ve heard of weyroc mentioned - was nt sure if this was just a brand or an entirely different product. The house is watertight if that makes a difference to the answer. No rush in your answers but I need to know for the morning to get it in time!

Trying to prevent a wet patch: not as easy as I thought.

Reminds me of the first self build we did - it had fallen through before we came along as it was believed a gas main ran right through the middle of it. So in my ingenuity, I called the gas board complaining I could smell gas at the address. Unfortunately the gas man got to the house before I could and was walking around with the guy selling the plot (looking rather worried as he wondered around in his dressing gown at the thought of a gas explosion!). After it was decided there did nt appear to be a gas leak, I asked him where the gas pipe was, he duly found it with his detector at the side of the plot, I bought it the next week, and the rest is history. -
Well hsbc would nt accept a letter from Hsbc as proof of address for my wife! They felt confident enough in the very same address to send a new bank card and cheque book though
-
There must be a simpler and cheaper way to switch where you are sending the heat. Do you have a rough schematic?
-
Won't start a new topic but will tag onto this... I need to order some insulation to fit between my 25mm battens onto which the aluminium ufh plates will be installed. Based on the 25mm batten, would 75mm rockwool provide the right balance between compressing enough so that it physically fits, but still providing enough upwards pressure on the plates so that they ensure good contact with the floor above?
-
Just to add on the dimming with loxone. They have just launched a dali control which means they can use Dali transformers on the dimmers - provided you are doing enough circuits to warrant the cost of the Dali extension at the best part of £400.
-
So ditra mat over it with the tiles should be fine? alternatively I play safe and just add the ufh perimeter
-
Presumably it will have enough compression to allow for expansion? Also, can you tile over it with ditra mat as I'm going for shadow gaps and therefore tiles will butt up against the wall
-
Anyone? You can't all have been watching the football
-
What's the best perimeter insulation to use with my screed? I need to get it prepped for a few weeks time. Do I stick with the standard foam stuff? Are there suppliers of a thicker version?
