Legal Agreement to Self-Build
Dave Jones replied to Paul K's topic in Party Wall & Property Legal Issues
While it may be good in principle, in reality how do you do it ? Infil plots are rarely large enough to plant extra trees and who wants trees anyway with the potential for damage and maintenance. It's just a tax plain and simple. -
just the normal house NAPIT type cert was all we needed.

id let them add all the conditons they like, secure planning. then appeal the conditions with costs. its free so nothing to lose. Unfortunately dead head civil servants are completely unaccountable in the country so can literally do what they want with zero repurcussions. -
Fan Coil Units for use with a (cooling) ASHP
Dave Jones replied to ProDave's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
overthinking it. just leave them on auto with a fan on/off temp set then let the heat pump control them. -
ideally you should be using marmox on the inner skin all way round anyway.

id stick to 75mm screed, not much cover above the pipes with 50mm

i did think the same but its massively more costly and hassle to do underfloor for 1st floor. In the end its not needed, if anything upstairs is too warm at night even with heating on fallback after 6pm. Bathrooms we have electric wet rads all controlled by home assistant as somewhere to dump spare solar/free sessions and ride the cheap rate sessions. Karndean floor is not cold once ambient air temp is 21 anyway.

needs planning, truss company needs to know so they can account for the weight, will probably need to sit on a stud wall below to take the weight. You need to lift it 400mm off the 'floor' of the loft so you can insulate under it, there is risk of freezing. https://www.discountheating.com/telford-tempest-300-litre-unvented-horizontal-indirect-heat-pump-cylinder.html

exactly. i think they are more for heat but at the price would take several lifetimes to pay back. -
Topographic survey question

yes of course, its good idea as you will get invert levels for drains etc as well. -
yes will be fine, you need to order ballast.

crap, made zero difference to cooling. Hoping it will be better for heating. Definately wouldnt bother with one again. -
of course any of them can, highways, sewer etc etc
-
be aware a pre-app doesn't necessarily goto all the statutory consultees any of which can kill the application even if planner approves.

would lose a fair bit of space to mount them as they are very deep, could be a solution for hallways/landings though. Just check they have a condensate drain. -
