  1. put a long level on it and take photo. sandstone is cheap for a reason! As its riven it's never flat so water does collect on some slabs. Over very small distances you would need a large fall to clear it which looks crap and your table wont be level etc. its a balance.
  2. dont really have anything to compare with but it was a doddle to install, the controller is not 'that' user friendly but they are all like it. touch wood no issues as yet.
  3. the flashing is really a soaker so should be below the tiles and extend a min on 150 under them.
  4. the big drawback is loss of heat though with this. fresh air is drawn in at outside temp by trickle vents leading to high moisture issues in winter.
  5. not heard of cascade system, could be a cost effective alternative only having to duct the extract rooms.
  6. when you say 300m is that the slab area ? Shame your pipe spacing is for old gas boiler, 100mm is much better. id agree on being oversized, rule of thumb is 30w per m2 on new regs. My aquera when we first ran it in march which was a cold snap, below zero. We had no loft insulation and all the downlighter holes were open upstairs and was getting a cop average of 8.6. flow temp of 25 and this was too hot.
  7. extension regs are a lot softer than new build. I'd still go for 150cav (if it works into existing walls) and 150 dritherm batts.
  8. not really, aircrete are massively poorer than marmox.
  9. if they are structural built off the block and beam yes marmox them for sure.
  10. its width of upstand not height. can you get 100mm celotex +plasterboard on the upstands ?
  11. back to the start. Was the zinc contractor aware of the velux detail hinges when they originally quoted and agreed to the job ? Even if they werent it seems completely unreasonable not to offer a day on site paid with whoever is fitting the velux to get it sorted. You have the ace card as youve not paid him. I'd have one more try to get him onsite if refuses contact his warranty provider and ask for a recomendation of another firm to do the same. Let him know you will be doing this and deducting their costs from his bill. As as side you dont look to have wide enough upstands to get 100mm of insulation into, although the pics could be deceiving.
  12. as seems to be routine with MCS salesman cart before the horse. Before you even think about ASHP, get heat loss calcs done. This will give you the knowledge if its even viable, if you can upgrade some building elements etc It's not hard to do if you take your time or pay someone to do it for you. Only once you have this can you make an informed decision and look at costs.
  13. get some tile and halfs. much easier.
  14. what do you mean by internal walls, the inside skin or walls built inside the thermal envelope ?
  15. there needs to be a goal for price parity between gas and electric. The market would then take care of it. 1 kwh gas = 6p 1 kwh elec = 23p
  16. no its a sealed unit that you feed from the top. They also do chiller drawers exactly the same design. Brilliant warranty from them as well.
  17. you are using slate and a half too soon, at the bottom you can run in with normal slates and keep bond. When you get further up you will find a normal slate isnt quite wide enough at top this in when you use a slate and a half. I'd also run the slates a little further over the lead, 100mm cover really. The lead sits very low under the slates and looks like there is a large gap where you have your clamp, you dont want that they need be tight. May need to OSB the valley first to pack it up before dressing the lead.
  18. are there soakers under that flashing ? it will leak without them.
  19. the only dishwaser to look at is the fisher paykel double draw. game changer. another vote for hob on island, neff do a very nice hob and separate pop up extractor. £££££ but worth it, we wouldnt be without them now.
  20. strip off more tiles to get the layboards down, then jacks off of them to ridge. klober dry valleys are excellent if you cant get hold of valley tiles.
  21. get half a dozen cockerels.
  22. its amazing these planning officer morons are able to keep their jobs and pension. In a sane world they would be stripped of both.
  23. you could save double that with the agile tariff and some timeclock programming/automation. We have home assistant control the ASHP, EDDI for tank boost, electric towel rads, battery. Octopus tell you each day at around 4pm what the next day rates are so you can work out cheapest slots to use. The savings are quite amazing, especially with the paid to use sessions where you get £££ for using as much as you can.
