Course not! Not completely rubbish.
-
Me. Man’s best friend remember.
-
Nope. I have one. Just not got around to using it yet. Sharpie is quicker for now.
-
What did you want to know? Nothing special going on. 4 bathrooms, 2 cloakrooms, dog shower, fridge/freezer, dishwasher etc. usual household stuff!
-
hot and cold manifolds tested, on the wall and with pipes connected! it's been a long time coming but I got there in the end.
-
ps. @Rob99 might be interested in 'building' your rig and shipping it up to you? IIRC his company offer this service.
-
I'm having a go at this myself in conjunction with my electrician. with the knowledge and assistance of those that have done it on here I'm feeling pretty confident about doing an all-right job! do a search on here and you'll find many examples of cabinets. @joth has a particularly good thread: I started a thread about my Loxone project as well which has loads of great information in it:

yeah. 20 on the cold (actually 19 as there's one spare just in case or for future expansion). and that doesn't include all the toilets as those will come from the RWH. I should've built a smaller house, might be finished by now if I had.
-
@pocster my hairy ones aren't as big as yours and I decided to connect a hose to my manifold to test it with water. no leaks were found. time to put it back on the wall and put the hep2o pipes in to it. should've trusted my work and not bothered with the testing! could've saved myself a couple of quick on a 3/4" male-male connector.

why is everyone so obsessed with what's fashionable? are you building for them or for yourselves? choose a colour that YOU like and that works. don't worry about what 'fashion' dictates. the beauty of self-building is you can be as individualistic as you like (within the limits of the planning department of course!)

Got mine from Jewson. Very happy with the quality and price.
-
good job. will be interested in how it works. don't gorget to keep detailed data from you testing using the correct units to keep @SteamyTea happy.

rockwool is good for sound insulation so this might be a good choice. 25mm thick x 108mm pipe size is £10.82/m exc VAT. I guess it all depends on how thick you want it. our heating engineers used this type of stuff for our ASHP flow and return internally.
-
doesn't give any sort of sound reduction values though.
-
wtf! I'm tempted to go with Rockwool held on with gaffa tape!
-
nice find. looks good. let me know how you get on.
-
whatever solution. you choose can you please update this thread with the results? you're ahead of me on this subject and I'd be very interested in your experiences.
-
@Nickfromwales has previously mentioned using Killmat insulation. here's one such example of a post of his and was something I was going to look in to for our poo-pipe running across the basement ceiling.
-
can you quantify 'very slow' please? and how does that compare to water heated towel rads?
-
don't know! not got that far in our build yet. 😉 but i was going to simply go electric as it just seemed simpler
-
Wouldn’t electric towel heaters give more flexibility as they’ll heat when required rather than when the heating is on?
-
cutting 210mm hole in timber frame?

can't help with that as I only had external OSB but my normal procedure is 'wing it and hope for the best'. -
You’ll get nothing but great reviews for MBC on here. Our friends had an MBC TF and I watched it going up and was very impressed. We would’ve gone with them but the fact we were having a basement and the wouldn’t do the foundations and we wanted to save money by insulating ourselves meant it wasn’t worth it. but….we also used the same chippie as our friends and he said he noticed some walls not plumb or square and some other slight issues that would only have been apparent later on in the build. Nothing he couldn’t overcome but thought I’d mention that they’re (and no one is) infallible. still, if I had my time again I’d pay the extra and go for the MBC twin wall TF.
