I needed an extra roll of airtight tape and bought this stuff to a) see what it's like b) didn't want to wait for tescon Vana delivery! it is very sticky and certainly does the job but, tbh, I prefer the Tescon Vana tape as I like the feel of the material type finish rather than the very plastic feeling AirGuard tape. but it seems to stick well.

What does your structural engineer say you need?

can you configure a double tap of some sorts to reset to default when entering a room? -

Loxone switch vs alternatives
Thorfun replied to BartW's topic in Networks, AV, Security & Automation
What seems like years ago I came across this link https://www.retrotouch.co.uk/pulse-and-retractive-switches/crystal-pg-retractivepulse-light-switch-2-gang-white.html it was probably on here somewhere. They look nice and are relatively inexpensive and state they work with Loxone. These will most likely be our “other” switches. -

I'm not bothering with CO2 switches. I'm putting my trust in the MVHR unit to do it's job. if I was to splash the cash on controllers I would consider the Touch Flex. but then I wonder if it would be possible to get the KNX extension and use existing Cat6a cables to run KNX switches as some of them are very nice indeed! tbh, I don't care if they look odd in the same room. in our bedrooms we'll have the single touch switch by the entrance and simple retro switches next to each side of the bed to turn lights off and open blinds if required. ultimately, though, I'm hoping to configure our Loxone system so I don't need to worry about using the switches. PIRs will detect walking in to the room. Time of Day and weather will determine auto opening/closing of blinds etc. so I wouldn't worry about them looking different. I guess, in theory, you could start with the basic ones and then upgrade switches as and when money is available to do so! that's something I might consider in the future. but for now it's about getting in and saving money so will make do with the cheap and cheerful Touch tree switches. -

the basic Touch switches got past the SWMBO test and so we've gone for one of those in each room so i can use the temperature sensor on them and all other switches in the rooms will be normal retractive switches. just not chosen what those will be yet! -

I think you'll be surprised at how fast the time goes to be honest. they may say 9 months or 1 year but that will pass you by in the blink of an eye. plus it gives you time to read this forum fully to learn all you can! 😉 -

They’re the ones you want. You need to plan ahead and wait for the good ones to be able to start. -
you should find some companies amenable to using smaller vehicles to get to site. it might be that they use the 40' lorry to take the panels to as close as possible and then unload onto smaller flatbeds for the final journey. I'd be surprised if a company wouldn't look in to something like that and would rather lose a sale.

we knew our temporary staircases (we have 3) would be semi-permanent and so bought cheap and cheerful from Stairbox. good enough to last a while as we save up for the final staircases.

not so easy for the plasterer who comes after though! 😉

you can pick up an Erbauer angle grinder from Screwfix relatively cheaply, even a battery one if you want to go down that route. great tools for a DIYer in my opinion. I have loads of them! -

did any Rockwool get installed between floors? interested to know as we've put 100mm of Rockwool between our posi-joists and I'm hoping that will sufficiently reduce the noise transfer. EPS of a structural engineered calculated compression rating will -

this is 2 days later for the walls and dropped ceiling and 3 days later for the actual ceiling (which is now dry). I think by the end of tomorrow it'll all be dry. but we're a bit behind so won't be mist coating until Monday at the earliest so it'll have nearly a week to dry out first before we mist coat.
