I think @JSHarris has a set of Bluetooth ceiling speakers, Jeremy? Tbh I was just looking for an excuse to drill more holes in the ceiling! :) Saw these on S'fix (for which I have a £20 voucher) but they don't get the best reviews: https://www.screwfix.com/p/istar-12302r-wireless-bluetooth-speaker-ceiling-kit/9921R? I like the idea of smaller, discreet speakers like the ones above that'll fit in "downlight" sized holes. A little worried about them maybe lacking bass as one review suggests. I'm not expecting hi-fi but don't want a tinny sound. Anyway.....back on track, plastering stilts, they seem quite pricey, has anyone ever made their own? Plenty of stilt projects on Pinterest, YouTube etc. The plastering ones seem to have springs in them?

This shower head swivels too btw. The joint is very subtle.

Is there a standard say head height from the ceiling for when plastering?

So you do a small mix, do the joints then bin it? Cream of tartar in first coat and finish coat? Just remembered I bought one of these too: I've two 4' joints that just butt up and aren't tapered edges:

Shower head arrived, did yours? Seems really solid and very well finished to me. Weirdly I ordered from Pebble Grey at £39.99 and the invoice with it is from Wayfair for £34.99 + postage.....all in for £41.99. Must check what I actually paid! Yet to decide whether I'll have it on a stalk or flush mount and have a remote control, motorized lowering system for cleaning.

So I need (hopefully this year ) to do some plastering in the bathroom. The 3m x 3m ceiling and half a wall above the bath 3m wide and 1.3m wide. These are the tools I have collected over the years: A hawk, a mixing paddle and a couple of trowels one being a big stainless steel one, both from Wickes. The ceiling has 4 downlights and the big body dryer - all easily removeable. The wall over the bath: A couple of damaged patches on the wall. Tbh most of this damage will be covered by a nom 4" filed upstand: No idea how this occured or how to prepare so it doesn't show through. The half wall will be painted. Concrete floor to ceiling is 2470mm. Standing in socked feet I can touch the ceiling but wouldn't be able to get any pressure on it. Going to have a crack myself. Worst case I eff it up and get the BiL to go over it. Other than tape the joints any tips? Should I get one of those internal corner trowels? Cheers

So back around March 2015 I posted up on eBuild about doing a few bits to keep my 1998 Warmflow oil boiler going. I fitted a new burner nozzle, a couple of new baffles and re-made the 2 piece, rivetted together lid. 2015 I didn't treat the steel other than rubbing it down and spraying with high temperature black paint. I also replaced the burnt thru insulation mat under the lid. Fast forward to now, Apr 2018 and I decided to take the new lid off to give it a quick respray as SWMBO had placed a rusty garden ornament on to and scuffed it all. Underneath was shocking, the lid has a 1mm tin cover and a heavier 2mm thick formed tray. The tray section was as rusty as! It was WORSE than in this picture which is after I wire brushed it: 2018 The rust from the lid caked this insulation but I forgot to take a photo before I vacuumed it: Underside the lid insulation is a bit black: For now it just got the worst off the rust brushed /scraped off and that atop the insulation hoovered up. Gave the inside a quick spray again: The original lid lasted far longer. What causes this rust, condensation? Cheers

Or a combination of ideas. A piece of ply battened to the thickness of a "standard" solar PV panel. Have some studs or brackets sticking out. F'glass the lot. Like a full dummy panel! Maybe it could be passed onto the next person. But are panels a standard fitting?

Let me think about it and you know how long that'll take! You can't overthink things.

And don't forget to integrate / anticipate your future cable runs or ducts for them into your roof construct even if not yet fitting the panels.

Say he goes for the in roof system but doesn't yet buy the panels. What does he cover the in roof trays with meanwhile?

Don't you also advocate not allowing the wastes to spin as you do them up so you compress rather than "smear" the sealant?

Just re-read this bit! Like the idea of boarding first and the same as I think @Nickfromwales did on the one he did / SWMBO saw / I'm now copying! I'm going to complicate it though and continue down my meandering path for now if only to save on Aquapanel for doing the pockets which I never allowed for. Was debating once this triangle is full height & plumbing done whether to fill it up with EPS beads. Very lossy corner this what with the soil going through.

I've yet to allow for the 12.5mm thickness of "pb" though in this case it'll be 12.5mm Aquapanel. Very conscious of that. Not enough noggins tbh. I'm thinking now, instead of noggins, to put a vertical infill of 6"x2" at right angles to the studs nearest the fillets. Loads of support then.

Do you mean the ends of main wall boards that come in from the left and right where they butt up to the fillets? Maybe a full height ply "wing" on the back of the fillets? The tile is only 400mm wide. I'm a bit lacking in ply at the mo, at least marine ply that is. Was half thinking to screw a nom. 400mm wide, full height, ply board to those fillets then just screw thru to attach to the wall noggins. At the base I'll maybe just stick the ply board to the concrete.
