I'd have laid money on you being a Hitachi man...

Nah! If they were, they'd have broken up that 11 tonne they gave away with club hammers.

Part M doesn't differentiate does it, just says "sockets and switches"? The exception it does cite is consumer units can be a little higher. I've got one deliberately high 1G socket on the landing from when I was going the put the router up high. I didn't but it would be a pain for a disabled person to reset the router up high.

Notching trusses for Lateral restraint straps
Onoff replied to James1's topic in General Structural Issues
The straps have to tie onto a full block still I assume? Got a very early Part A here circa late 80's. -

Royal patronage for the forum at last! ? -
Socket and switch heights are from Part M "Services & Controls". Page 9: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/access-to-and-use-of-buildings-approved-document-m BCO might pick up if you deviate. A socket is a socket whether 230V or AV / network and should be accessible. If you do run in a line then you'll need to separate the LV lines and "network" stuff with insulated conduit or trunking.

150mm either way from internal corner.....aka the "shelf bracket zone" to Joe Public! ? Maybe if they taught safe zones in school?
-
Picture 1 & 4.....what are the (5?) conduits running down left of the 2G socket? As in not in the safe zone.....how will anyone know not to drill?

I'd love a stream. Best I've got is the road that occasionally becomes a seasonal water course. Before it was a road elderly locals said it was little more than a narrow ditch but that watercress grew along the "banks". This time it joined up with the Darent about 3 or 4 miles down the valley: Interestingly the watercourse crosses two historic boreholes that I only knew were there due to a link @JSHarris posted.

Solar thermal array at the bottom of the hill? No pump needed/ natural thermo siphoning....

It's suggesting it's directional. I assume you get low with the handset for cleaning the shower? Have an issue here with the upstairs en suite shower tray. If my daughter showers I'll occasionally get drips coming down into the cupboard of the new bathroom. Most likely she's not too careful about pulling the shower curtain across and the water goes outside and under the tray. Can't really stand in there whilst she's showering to find the leak! Could be to do with the time she spends in there too. Wish she'd bloody clean up too, it's like Cousin It's been in there! When the wife showers it doesn't happen. Can't wait to rip the en suite out!

Back In The Land Of The Living in the words of Linda Mertens! I re-did the pockets. Peeled all the silicone out and cleaned. This time I did the six verticals first and left to dry. Then I did the short returns and horizontals at the same time. Up close? Well, this is about the best. Next time I'll do verticals and leave to dry. Then short returns and let them dry. Lastly the horizontals. A pain getting the little blue Fugi tool into the corners and you disturb the adjacent horizontal if still wet. And this was even working out from the corner. Happy enough with the 5mm bead along the shelf: However... The junction where the pen is I'd CT1'd. Thought I'd left it low enough. I hadn't! The 5mm tool caught the lumpy CT1. Tried 8mm, 10mm then 12mm. Even at 12mm the white needs to be thick to look "white". Amazingly the super translucent CT1 shows through as a dark line! So I've ripped it all out..... Going to risk just the white silicone with the 5mm tool.....when I get some more!

Try a smear over that fixing?

Did you ever buy a welder? If you want a good stick welder then this so far ahead of the heavy old buzz boxes it's like sci-fi: https://www.weldequip.com/parweld-xts-162.htm Buy the case if you get one. Optional TIG kit too. -
Lidl Parkside one all day long. I couldn't find either of mine recently when I put the daughters TV bracket up so asked the BiL. Gave me his Aldi one saying he couldn't get on with it. https://www.aldi.co.uk/workzone-stud-detector/p/011334263945200 Absolute doddle to use. Tried getting one but couldn't other than online so got the Lidl Parkside one below. Incidentally this looks and acts pretty much identical. Just for you I've arisen from my deathbed: Clamped a stud to a bit of mrpb: I've only tried it on the stud setting and NOT read the instructions: As you reach the side of the stud the arrows peak, make a mark: The arrow tails off as you reach the other side of the stud. Come back from the other direction to make sure and make a second mark. Centreline of the joist is in the middle of the two marks. I'll do a little video:
-
Could be worse, you could be known as "that bloke who's fitted upskirt glass". Eh, @pocster?
-
Mark the joist centres in case it doesn't work and you have to screw later. Spax flooring screws all day long for me in 22mm T&G chipboard. Superb design. https://tradefixdirect.com/woodscrews/flooring-screws?

Their default is the customer is at fault and that any investigation will be chargeable. Case in point: My BT line was playing up. I reported it and their response was that line testing indicated the fault in or near my property. Furthermore to investigate and sort any such fault would be at my cost. From memory I had to agree to I think to an over £100 minimum charge. Making sure that no overhead lines (their lines) were snagged by (my) trees I disconnected the overheads at the box on the wall and insulation resistance tested the surface mounted cabling running from the box along the house and through the wall to the master socket. Tbh I'm pretty sure it's their cable anyway (maybe the old "Dropwire No.1"?). Plugged in a known good phone and still dead. Even tried another master socket. It was pretty clear it was their side so I wrote back with the IR results and that I wouldn't agree to the minimum charge. Fault was found 2km away at the local exchange. So much for in or near my property!
