  1. The red Polypipe panels take the place of the layer of polythene atop the foil faced insulation. You end up using less concrete/screed with the panels but the resultant slab is less dense of course. The upstands form little air pockets / hollows underneath. My slab is 100mm thick. I then have a layer of A142 mesh sits on top. It does save too on support chairs. It is SO easy and quick to lay pipe as the video shows. Me using my home made de coiler. I cast the main slab but left the wet room corner until later when I cast that area to falls with an exotic pea shingle, SBR heavy concrete mix. The mistake I made was leaving it so long. I was standing on / bouncing up and down on the mesh that I started to abrade the UFH pipe! Luckily I spotted it and mitigated with some trunking off cuts: In fact in this area, because of the fall I actually cut out the Polypipe panels (a mission as the mesh was in place. I then put a membrane down on the foil faced PIR, tied the pipe to the mesh and concreted.
  2. My money's on him returning this month in a red suit riding an airborne sleigh he knocked up in the garage.
  3. He's sent me a CNC control board he wasn't using and did some 3D printing for me. Also a media player. All FOC. All without any fanfare other than a nice offer. I've reciprocated and sent him memory sticks, some heavy duty electromagnets...think that's all. That's how it should work imo. I'd love to know if he ever did complete his ACME pheasant trap! Anyway forums are a bit notorious for stuff like this, you lose the nuances of face to face interaction and it's easy to take or cause offence. It also takes time to develop relationships even virtual ones. We can't all sit down and have a pint together and thrash things out / bond. Chuck in quirky, eccentric personalities etc. Let's face it if you're into self building or heavy DIY you're probably not normal and sweat the detail, some more than others! ?
  4. There's a load more links to regulatory documents that might be pertinent here: https://www.gascageshop.co.uk/hse-guidelines#:~:text=No opening into buildings%2C cellars,propane%2C butane and dissolved acetylene.
  5. Is a window, non opening or otherwise considered enough of a physical barrier (against explosion I presume)? And would traditional bricks and mortar stand up better than a TF house? You might point out to BC that not only is your window non opening but that particular attention had been paid to air (thus I imagine) gas tightness.
  6. Was just about to say the same.
  7. These help? cylinder-storage-information.pdf code-of-guidance-for-storage-of-cylinders.pdf
  8. Try and stick to McAlpine stuff rather than Floplast which has a tendency to fall apart.
  9. I'm man enough I hope to admit I was at times less than generous towards Jeremy in private comments to other members. I like to feel I got over that. I think I took his drive, passion and tenacity as arrogance. Chuck in a bit of jealousy maybe at his breadth of knowledge. Less a case of him being "one of those people who's always right", bottom line he generally was! ? I miss him. Best Christmas pressie Buildhub could have is if he makes an appearance.

    Don't laugh!!

How about a couple of bricks on the floor with a scaffold plank on top outside the door, kids would love it? ?

    Windolene on the lens?
  12. One piece bit of copper: In: (The water marks are from roof leaks). I suppose I should consider myself lucky SWMBO's not fussy... (Ditto the stains under the window. The detailing round that is dire outside). Take the shower apart next I suppose...
  13. Think we knew already she wasn't fussy... ? Pi$$ taking aside good effort, you know that I know tiling well is bloody hard. The things with hindsight I'd have done different! Least favourite job of my bathroom. I can understand why good tilers are worth it.
  14. Janet Leigh?
  15. First rule of the amateur bathroom fitter is take photos from the most sympathetic angle. Even then the camera can only lie so much. Ask me how I know!
  16. Nope, staying well away from those trims!
  17. Be one less shortly...
  18. Loving the way it's symmetrical to the tiles! Top marks too for the handy shelf for the First Aid kit when visitors sever an artery on those corners ?
  19. You missed a comeback there! "Sitz bath mate!" ?
  20. Noticeably warmer in the ensuite with the gap round the soil pipe (to the uninsulated eaves) all sealed up properly whereas the old soil pipe position wasn't sealed up.
  21. OK that's 2-core steel wire armoured. The earth path goes from the earth bar in the CU via the bit of earth wire to that galvanised adaptable box. The earth path will likely continue via the stranded armoured around the cable. Those strands will be connected to the brass gland. Tug / push up that earth wire in the galv box and you might see it move on the earth bar in the CU. No prob leaving that earth wire in situ to the galv box. Are you removing the swa cable completely?
  22. Lidl were doing a good graphite spray.
  23. I only know now after suffering a bent hinge myself.
  24. If so then I'd just disconnect and make safe (at least tape those ends or remove completely), the incoming cable to your circuit. There'll be an earth wire too. Leave the RCBO in and it's blue & white wires connected. You might want to use it for something else later on.
  25. That's an RCBO so it has a flying blue neutral? Is that what you're on about?
