Spend a bit of time on here and you'll know not to wait up for me on this. I've a list of unfinished projects here, so long, I've forgotten some. Yes, the water rose by pure convection is the thinking but relatively slowly given the small area and the fact of no pump. First tried this expecting it to be heating/lifting water like a mad thing. The intake hose stuck in a bowl of water. It didn't work: This configuration didn't work either: Had to put the barrel horizontal like in the earlier photos. Hot in on the right, cold out bottom left. Had a few hot car washes out of it and a couple of al fresco showers much to the kids amusement. Tbh my south west facing hip cries out for PV panels but I want to change to a gable end. I had thought of building some neat, full height, can heater panels and fitting either side of the sliding doors. As it stands SWMBO is rather attached to the rose on the left and jasmine bush on the right so that won't be happening. This site is good: https://builditsolar.com/ It's run by an American lad called Gary. He was I think the site owner of the Simply Solar forum which was an absolute mine of info. https://ecorenovator.org/forum/showthread.php?t=7393 Tbh most on here look down on solar thermal projects like this. The thinking seems to be if you can afford PV why bother.

I've got some PV batteries to collect at some time, controller etc. My sucker mate was conned into "upgrading" what he already had.

One of the white, non IP rated ones. Fitted just outside the bathroom. Around July 2019 I reckon I fitted it. I don't think 2 1/2 years is very good tbh. At the time you could only get the IP rated ones in grey. Got a 2 gang one of those next to the bath , still going strong.

I miss him tbh. Both SWMBO and I have a lot of time for him. I wrote a letter of support etc but to no avail. Think he had the last laugh as the surgery has seriously gone downhill since he left. -
Used to tip an acid over welded stainless brackets to clean the welds up where they were discoloured I recall.

A lot of the better fab shops separate their mild steel production areas from the ali and stainless using a completely different tool set. This to prevent cross contamination. Basically you get bits of mild steel swarf embedded in a grinding disc then use it on ali or st/st where it rusts. Years back we found if we cut M16 304 studs with a 9" cutting disc the end would rust. The thought that it was overheating. The trick was to then "gently" dress the end with a 4 1/2" grinding disc to get rid of the damaged/overheated area. Times have moved on and we now use thinner slitting discs so might not be so much if an issue.

Small villages can be very cliquey. Lots of people with FA else to focus on. Our GP told the truth to a patient and was eventually hounded out. Talk about a pack mentality ganging up on him! Top bloke imo. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2086062/amp/Rude-GP-Dr-Richard-Dunn-told-patient-Youll-die-horrible-death.html -

I tend to use U-Pol etch primer for most things now. However you might consider Hammerite Special Metals Primer. Looks like a thin red oxide. I've used it on aluminium, copper, galvanised steel and stainless and it's pretty good...despite it being made by Hammerite! ?

What do I love about the lights here? When they're all off and I can't see the sh!t hole and amount of work needed!

Had my first Quinetic switch fail yesterday. 1 gang of a 2 gang switch. It clicks etc like normal but won't pair or make any sign of communicating with the 6A receiver. New switch fitted.

I believe that welding causes changes to the composition of stainless steel.

Lots of places to hide bodies round my way... ? -
Don't do it! Take it from someone with a single pipe system (me).

Poor cow, that'd be one either side. -
I used dpc, stapled to the timbers, atop the support pads and just angled it a bit as necessary to shed sitting water.

You can buy handrail, baserail and spindle sections quite easily. For example: https://www.diy.com/departments/building-supplies/stairs-stair-parts/stair-parts/DIY830487.cat To bling up that centre post just route the edge, pin on some mouldings, a combo of both.
