I like to see a 3mm gap around each door (I grew up in a house where most doors stuck in the frames). Can be done by resetting the hinges if the gap hinge side is too great, or planing whichever side is tight, simple job fir a (good) chippie.

That sounds like a reasonable compromise on your part, let’s hope your neighbour is as reasonable (but tell your neighbour you will go for the OS line if he does not agree ?).
-
Despite your plot plan from the 1950,s he may claim usage as the boundary has not been challenged for many years (adverse possession?). I am not an expert on this but would hope you can come to a solution with your neighbours without you both spending £££ on solicitors etc. You still have to live next door to these people and a compromise might be worth the lack of aggro.

Screening Ideas to Block Chronic Curtain-Twitchers

Sounds to me like jealous neighbours that have nothing better to do than sit and watch what your doing. I had one of those quite a while back, so I used to sit in the garden with binoculars and stare back at them, and wave , it worked (some). ? -
Planning permission Letter of objection - challenge inaccuracies?
joe90 replied to Digger1's topic in Planning Permission
What?, I hope you put them right?, -
I had the windows made locally, and asked for a 120mm top piece added. The windows are fitted “check reveals” style, I.e. the windows are fitted from the inside against the brickwork and slightly larger than the opening with expanding foam tape to seal them to the brickwork. The inner blockwork skin appature is larger again to enable the windows to fit through and angled, cottage style, which gives more light into the room, the cavity was closed by plasterboard.

My bricklayer made his own former out of wood which was removed afterwards, but we didn’t infill with brick below it, just got the windows added too like below.

it’s not the complainers you respond too, your letter will go on the planning portal so will be seen by anyone concerned. -
After 4 planning applications and a successful appeal for my build I would wait for refusal so you have actual points of refusal to work on, you can re apply once for free. Make sure your planners are abiding by their own policies. When I won at appeal the planners were slated for not applying their own policies. You may find that you can refute their refusal points, post it all here, lots of knowledge on planning here ?

Ha, you don’t give up do you?. @Tony K like several here and many others I have an ASHP in a brick and block house, yes with good insulation, double, not triple glazed windows and I am very happy with my fairly quiet ASHP. I AM a Luddite (I don’t like a lot of tech) but I designed my own heating system by reading lots and listening to other forum members who have personal knowledge about how these things work. My summer bills are approx £60 per month and about £90 in winter. (Whole electrical bill) When I designed my system I asked about running during the warmer part of the day rather than colder nights and I think it was @SteamyTea that pointed out the COP figure drops in relation to relative humidity rather than temperature (is that right Nick?) That is why ASHP,s run well in very cold countries with low relative humidity. I believe @Dave Jones had a bad installation which is why he is so negative about the whole ASHP debate. Yes, a heating system using an ASHP is very different to a gas boiler and it’s a bit like comparing apples to plumbs, but if designed properly can work very well. I am sure there are installers that do not know how to instal them correctly which is why there is some bad press out there.

I agree , yes it would look fine.

we had a Neighbour who objected to loads of different stuff, I wrote listing each point giving my evidence why each point was wrong, it was on the public web site and everyone could read it. -

A reason to nip it in the bud before they refuse planning. If a planner can see a copy of an OS map and the location of the build within the borders what’s to object to? -
ditto with mine.

mines a little noisier than my fridge.

150mm!
-
Never measured it but not invasive for sure, Mine is only on for the odd hour or so, I would live with it fir a while first. Actually my sewerage treatment plant was more annoying (24/7) so I moved the pump and used sound absorbing foam to make that quieter. I suppose all locations are different.

I was going to make one, but frankly my ASHP is so quiet I think it’s overkill.

Architect has done a wonderful scheme but-
joe90 replied to DragsterDriver's topic in Surveyors & Architects
yes but it depends if the client knows what they want, some don’t, some do. BUT Any architect should abide by the brief, including the budget. -
Yup, Spax are good ?
-
Using screws at an angle will be fine, they only need to hold it in place, gravity and the boards above will hold it in place. 80mm should b fine.

My Kingspan unit (like Jeremy) is a carrier unit. As @PeterW says they have been making them for a very long time. -

Ha, that’s bollocks, if your plan shows your build within your boundary that’s what you will build (I am guessing they are NIMBYs) -
Planning permission Letter of objection - challenge inaccuracies?

I would not rely on planners knowing stuff, I would definitely respond saying that the land is yours and you can prove it. The planners I fought knew diddly squat about what we owned and made wrong assumptions more than once ?. It took an appeal to put them back in their box ?
