  1. When I applied for an account (before I retired) they did not want much to prove I was in the trade, when after I retired my mate wanted a kitchen and I went with him (different town) and told them I used to have an account and was fitting a kitchen fir my mate and they opened an account fir him/me.
  2. You know I don’t like tech 🙄
  3. Bugger! Frankly the felts got to come off again and be re done 🤷‍♂️
  4. This is a good way I used to hold the log steady, not dangerous at all 😳just need a tractor!!!!
  5. Yes you need to be under the felt when it rains or someone with a hose outside whilst you look for the leak.
  6. I saw no requirement to have a log book when I installed mine, just advised to have an annual check.
  7. NO, can you identify where exactly the rain is coming in?
  8. You will need to remove the last row and under half tiles, extend any rafters somehow then add battens and a row and re install the last tiles and half tiles.
  9. So sorry to hear this, can’t imagine how scary it was!I you have to do whatever gives you, and your family, the best peace of mind.
  10. That’s what nearly removed my thumb (my fault, the cable was around my wrist when I went to put it down and the blade still turning 🤯) lesson learnt, wait till the blade stops before trying to put it down.
  11. I agree (but both my 4” and 9” have soft start.) but my old 9” had a hell of a kick.
  12. I nearly lost my thumb with an angie grinder and carving blade but managed to avoid injury with a chainsaw, I think because chainsaws are recognised as being dangerous people treat them with more respect
  13. If using any chainsaw make sure the log is very secure before you start, again it’s a shame you are so far away, I have the kit!
  14. Posts tend to rot where they meet the soil rather than it it or above it, if you make a concrete foundation then bolt a “shoe” to it the post is above the rot point. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Heavy-Galvanised-Elevated-Support-Fence/dp/B085BW5R2M/ref=sr_1_17?keywords=Post+Shoes&qid=1687035316&sr=8-17
  15. Fixing to slabs is not a good idea unless they are fully bonded to a solid concrete base as well (IMO).
  16. Clearing the garden to my new cottage I came across a plastic bin full of this, when I took the lid off I nearly passed out, stank like a pig farm. 😵‍💫
  17. Shame you didn’t do @ProDave,s rendering 🤷‍♂️, in the shed of the house I just bought is a roll of fibreglass mesh, Polish (by the look of it) rather than chuck it anyone can have it fir the cost of the postage!
  18. Yes, just bought a house 🤷‍♂️ and so has my son.
  19. We are not in recession unlike Germany 🤷‍♂️
  20. Ah, I used that around my windows in my build, I may have some left (if I can find it 🤔).
  21. No such thing as a stupid question, stupid is not asking and making (wrong) assumptions 😎, I guess they are talking about silicone type polymer (using a gun like decorates caulk etc) but more informed people will be along in a mo.
  22. I will be screwing it down to the slab just using the silicone as a gasket 🤞
  23. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394339796610 i ageeed they could cut them In Half to reduce the shipping costs. I am going to lay them on a bed of silicone to stop moisture creeping under neath and at the joins as well. 👍
  24. Sit rep, I have ordered the garage kit and recycled plastic battens to replace the treated timber battens supplied with the kit to be fixed to the slab so they will never rot, just getting the form work built to lay the slab in (if I can ever get a builder to confirm they can lay it fir me 🤯).
