  1. I would agree but IMO not worth the hard work digging it out (at my age),I would have if I was 20 years younger 😳
  2. No, not doing that, far too old now, I have ramps axle stands and jacks, no major works just tinkering (last one I dug kept filling with water 😵‍💫).
  3. It’s only a garage, I was being a bit OCD. (I have enough floor paint from my previous build to make it look good 👍) NO, as above it’s only a garage and an un insulated one at that.
  4. The concrete plant will only open on a sat fir a large full truck load minimum, yes truck is small (my access problems).
  5. Sit rep, finally got some labour jacked up for Saturday to lay the concrete but no suppliers will deliver on a Saturday unless I have a full truck load 🤯. Trying to arrange labour for a weekday. I am going to manually tamp with 2x4 then bull float, I can always trowel by hand any imperfections when nearly dry.
  6. Vertical solar panels, use all that solar gain 🤷‍♂️
  7. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266303175375?hash=item3e00e7facf:g:WdIAAOSwy~dkjwJq you might change your mind after driving it all the way to visit your mum!!
  8. My last build was a demolish and new build after years of extensions and refurbs and it was a dream, I was lucky getting a main contractor who was good but loved the journey. Go new build (and get the VAT back).
  9. Ooh, that’s a good bit of kit, I found one to hire locally but it’s 6m long and access is limited (and it’s over £100 to hire a day). I did use a power float many years ago and got a good result, re the edging trowel, when I moved house recently I had a big clear out, sold and gave away lots of kit I didn’t think I would use again (including an edging trowel that belonged to my grandfather 🤣, still ordered another one on EBay…..)
  10. Kit car and motorbike and all my spanner’s etc
  11. As I cannot find a contractor to lay my garage base (they are all very busy or don’t want to know). I think I will have to lay it myself with two strapping lads to do the hard work shifting it around. My last garage floor was rough (don’t ask) and I want a proper flat sealed floor this time. My slab is only 24 sq m (6 x 4m). My question is is it worth hiring a power float (nearly £100) fir such a small area when I can hire a bull float for a lot less. Answers on a postcard………
  12. And mine 🤔
  13. You try a terminal (120mph) opening of a parachute with your meat and veg in the wrong place in the harness 🤯( been there done that, just the once!,!).
  14. +1 🤷‍♂️
  15. I had one of these for years and found it the most flexible option with a board to work from. https://www.onbuy.com/gb/p/35m-portable-heavy-duty-aluminium-folding-ladder-extendable~p72377976/?exta=gshp&extac=gshppa&stat=eyJpcCI6Ijg5Ljc5MDAiLCJkcCI6MCwibGlkIjoxMDIzNDU3MTUsInMiOiI2IiwidCI6MTY4NzUwOTU3MiwiYm1jIjoiMy41In0=&lid=102345715&exta=gshp&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=19978238392&utm_medium=pmax&utm_content=&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqNqkBhDlARIsAFaxvwz2tQwh4zgXnOgvheoVEPFc0wmre9KyzPlVkrHn9RKkPVnG2kykSwIaAsJPEALw_wcB
  16. No it’s not Not (but Germany is!).
  17. My son is a car salesman and he tells me they make more money on finance than actually selling the cars!,!
  18. I hate airated blocks 🤯
  19. No @DougMLancs said this, however I think you will find this forum,s consensus is that only badly installed/set up ASHP,s don’t work well.
  20. As an aside and someone who successfully heated my new build with a 4kW ASHP with MVHR, regarding the comment above about your bifolds overheating you, I was told this with my huge south facing conservatory and bifolds into the kitchen and lounge, yes it was quite warm for a couple of weeks (similar temps to a holiday in Italy 🤷‍♂️) but I have to say for the rest of the year it mostly heated the house!!!!, I had a rule, if the temp in the conservatory was below 19’ the bifolds into the house were kept shut, if over but below 22’ they were open, if the house was getting too warm they were closed. I think this saved a great deal in heating costs.
  21. Around Bristol you have to take proof of residency of the city (not in the Forest tho 👍)
  22. A dying breed I recon, you don’t see hod carrier's anymore, on a lot of sites muck (mortar) is delivered ready mixed in big tubs lifted onto scaffolding with a telehandler along with the bricks 🤷‍♂️.
  23. Raining here!(the garden needs it)
