The design of our (ICF -Durisol) house means that a small section of the insulated front wall is inside the house - inside the heated envelope. And why wouldn't we need to fix a back-box into the insulated part of the wall ? ....?, I mean come on this is our build, not anyone sensible, or someone with half a brain ... As you can see, the backbox is (in this case too small - 47mm one on order) sitting on the insulation. This is where the back box sits in the wall There's just over 200 mm of insulation and then concrete behind that. Its naughty to put electrics next to insulation innit? Do I have to dig out all the insulation and plug the gap with wood or something? Or can I just get a jinormous screw then drill through to the concrete and fix it in that? Or just knock the house down and start again.....

Welcome. Have you seen this? Probably in the wrong place for you but it's 5 minutes from the M6 (J32). If you are ever planning to go to the Lakes in Cumbria, it's well worth an hour or two. Because the law (protocol) requires them to provide full information. Here's chapter and verse. When, (if) the letter comes - be sure to check which protocol is being used. There are a host of charlatan websites offering an LBA for £2 using an out of date protocol. The current protocol is very thorough, and in my opinion, balanced and fair. Most people pay as soon as they get an LBA - even one which uses the out of date protocol. Nothwithstanding @scottishjohn's opinion, I would be inclined to write a very brief letter (requiring proof of delivery) asking for an itemised invoice using the headings given in the quote indictating that as soon as a satisfactory, accurate, itemised invoice is received, you will pay It really is very simple and clear cut. Because @Home Farm's argues the price is not the key issue. HF's concern is that what was asked for might well not to be what was supplied. The fact that the total bill is the same might be a coincidence, or not. Without an itemised invoice the purchaser cannot tell.

It seems simple to me. No acceptable invoice, no payment. Next step: a Letter Before Action from them - that protocol requires both sides to evidence everything. That'll flush them out. Sit back relax.

You are a long way from that yet. You have to have explored all other avenues first.

I faced an exactly similar challenge - repeated refusals to itemise the final invoice as per the quotation - matched by repeated refusals from us to pay until the final invoice was broken into the (formally agreed ) level of detail. 2 years later we are still waiting for a detailed invoice. On asking in person for the detailed invoice, the company owner actually said: "I don't see why I should" You couldn't make it up.

The image might have come from a quotation? Might that explain the hiccup?

Thanks for the recognition of the effort we have made in helping you. Getting shirty (as you describe it) works only in very limited circumstances, and once you've ripped your shirt off and stamped on it, there's not a great deal left to do. The trouble with doing that often is the same as swearing too much. It switches people's sympathy off. It reduces sensitivity. And so lowers our capacity to help you. State the problem briefly. Stick to facts. Shows us documentary evidence - documents, images, sketches, video. Use emojis to help us know about your mood. Use the smallest number of words possible to accurately describe the issue : if in doubt cut. Thats not an easy task.
