  1. What is that holding u, as it looks smaller than anything I’ve ever used in house construction, apart from a lightweight carport.
  2. Two walls built with steel stud and track, isolated from each other if you go on a lot of the plasterboard manufacturers websites they will have a good few methods of constructing a robust sound proof wall. The last thing I would build it out of would be solid block. You need to imagine sound travels through any material, by having a gap you stop the transfer.
  3. This is mine screwed to the steel post, not a lot of chance of those holes comprising the steel post. 40mm of xps glued onto the post on the outside with an aluminium trim over the top.
  4. Zoom out on the pic that looks like it’s jammed in to hold it in place not a water supply.
  5. I don’t see a problem fixing into the steel my corner windows are. The bracket for the windows is bent around the outside of the steel and then tex screwed in, this is then sealed with pu sealant and the insulation board over the top.
  6. I don’t see how this is your problem, you have supplied all the correct stuff if their bank doesn’t like it that’s their problem. I understand the frustration, but dealing with theses people is on another level of dodgy. Keep the house on the market and keep showing it. If they are having this problem then it will probably fall apart later on anyway.
  7. What do you do at the floor joints @nod
  8. Perfect cheers, I hadn’t even started on British gypsum.
  9. @nod is that the siniat stuff, I’m looking at one that’s an orange/ yellow colour called aqua board. It can be taped and jointed outside the shower area for painting over.
  10. Get that concrete smashed out, get it wire brushed down vigorously, throw the tin of red oxide over in the corner and get some cold galv paint, preparation is key don’t skimp, coat it up with cold galv. My corner post is full with foam on the inside and has 40mm xps insulation on the outside then an aluminium cladding to match the windows.
  11. The jacoboard stuff looks half price to the abacus stuff, but I might not have found any good pricing on the abacus. I have the jacoboard coming in at £13.2 a m inc vat. Whats that like.
  12. I’m in the same boat, have a quick look at prices, I think some must be made with gold particles glued together by a unicorn. Im also looking at siniat aqua board.
  13. Suck the paint up in a straw and blow it back out, altering your amount of puff to change the spray pattern. Works a treat, have used this ol trick to get me out of loads of situations. ??
  14. Been saying it for the last 4 years, but what do I know. ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️??‍♂️
  15. And this is why you back roll sprayed surfaces.
  16. Have you thought of living on site, will probably save you £12-15000 in rent.
  17. If you want to save money ditch the zinc roof eye watering costs, and lots of alternatives out there. this is mine. If that’s the sort of thing your after. Ignore all the white bits I was hacking a window reveal about.
  18. You need a felt support tray to run into the gutter, not the felt, fit that first and membrane on top.
  19. Don’t want to take the risk really, for the cost of a couple of lengths of conduit.
  20. Are you just thinking the 25mm round stuff.
  21. @TonyT the only area that is an issue is running cables on any of the icf surfaces. First floor is I joist so no problem there, ceiling has a service batten so no problem there it’s a couple of the icf walls will have switches or sockets but no service batten to create a void, so cables will need to go in the surface of the icf, so need a method of isolating them from the polystyrene.
  22. I’m just about to start first fix wiring and looking for wisdom on how people ran wires when on an polystyrene icf wall. Im fully aware of the need to separate the wires away from the polystyrene, wondering what people have done to keep the separation. Im meeting the electrician later in the week and we have a number of ideas kicking about, but I thought it would be good to see what others have done. The ideas range from cutting a 25mm deep chase in the wall and lining it with foil tape, to installing a rectangular conduit the type with the clip on face. Any thoughts @willbish
  23. If you have a good idea of what you want then you just need an architectural technician to turn your ideas into drawings you can submit for building control, your budget is small, don’t spend what you don’t need to.
  24. So we eventually get to see some building work excellent choice of product to build with, even if I do say so myself.
