  1. On my daughters, i split the gas central heating into Two. Upstairs, and downstairs. Ran a 22mm flow and return to upstairs, and downstairs. Ran 15mm tails from manifolds to each radiator. Works well. The only thing a mate told me was to try and make the 15mm runs less than 6meters. I will need to start designing mine soon.
  2. IMO, wood worktops in a well used kitchen are a bad idea. As for corian. It is expensive plastic, that scratches, and goes dull. Get yourself some real granite. If you stay for another 40 years, it will still look great. It will be templated to fit your wonky wall.
  3. On a similar, i did, hoover, black jack, sand and cement.
  4. Several times i have found the "added extra socket" cut into an existing ring. One end into One ring, and the other into a different ring. Turn the fuse off. Still live.
  5. Easy... I spent all day fitting a huge aerial on the back of my daughters house when we bought it. After i finished the old boy across the road said i was wasting my time, only able to get 5 chanels with an aerial round here. It was true. Right down in a valley, (Chesham town centre, Bucks) Signal so bad that the repeater that was fitted on a distant hill, only re-broadcasts 5 chanels.......So, cable T.V is was then. Waste of my £150 quid.
  6. Ok, so no top chopping. Just keep the sides trimmed to the thickness i want. Cheers @Gone West
  7. Yikes. Another load of money to spend. Then you will have Part O building regs to comply with. Almost impossible to pass with the simple method, so will require thermal modelling. Another £1000.
  8. Morning @Adsibob I used Soudel, Butyrub Polybutele non setting mastic. Hope you get it sorted.
  9. I will look it up in the morning fella.
  10. @Iceverge No i love them. They are far enough away to not be a problem.
  11. Can't help with a consultant but first thing i would do if have a look at what windows you think you might effect on the neighbouring properties. When it came up on mine, i was able to say that the only things i would effect would be an entrance hall, a downstairs w.c. An upstairs landing, bathroom, and One bedroom, but that also had another window on another elevation. Planning dropped the request then.
  12. As @Conor says. look to big. much more like Hemp put into the casting to add strengh.
  13. Can you get access to the roof easily ? You have to take care of the safety aspect of you jumping up there with a couple of tubes of whatever fella. It's not right at the top of the house is it ? Hopefully, a flat roof area above a single storey bit. I fitted a bloody expensive aluminium roof lantern. Asked the supplier what size externally the hole needed to be. When the blinking thing arrived it was exactly the size of the hole that i had built. No blinking overhang. actually, in view of the rubber membrane which came up the upstand, it was actually slightly smaller than the opening. I feel you pain... I thought about getting some sort of aluminium frame made up that would increase the size, but in the end i ran some of the rubber roofing non setting mastic around it. Still ok after about 8 years.
  14. Will cutting the tops encourage them to grow taller ?
  15. Fantastic. I love that. What a great idea.
  16. Would anybody be able to point me in the direction and provide a link to the "Harris heat loss calculated spreadsheet thing. i assume i can then download it and get a competent person (wife) to fill it in for me ? Thanks
  17. I also think that a porch would make a huge difference.
  18. I think that the whole sides of my van are glued on with Tigerseal. No welding.
  19. I'm not on any other forums. Can only just use a computer, and can't find the info i need on the interthing. I have got about 140 laurel trees on two sides of my property. I planted them about 5 years ago. They are great. About 10ft high, and about 1meter thick. Would any of the Green fingered bods know when i should cut them. They are thick enough, but i want to get them as tall as possible. If this is out of order Mods, feel free to delete it. Cheers Big Jimbo.
  20. @SteamyTea and Double sided tape is about 0.0 Wm.k even better.
  21. Well done fella. now time for a beer.
  22. It's called a minor admendment, and the submission for will be available on your councils web site. If you have a condition about your windows that you don't comply with, that could prove very expensive.
  23. Just do weedkiller a couple of times a year on the gravel area.
  24. I know that nano tech has moved on a huge amount from say 20 years ago. I know that they now have Nano's that when entered into the body will be able to remove some nasty bits. i questioned how we can make machines so small. They are not machines, they are organisms that are grown. The breakthrough will come when they work out how to coat them to stop our bodies rejecting them. Might still be a way off, but eventually...... There is that other type of paper that has some form of weaved metal central section to combat damp.
