  1. or if buying --then auction prices should be low for the forseeable future
  2. this week --If i get time i wll be ringing around to get a deal on long term 8-10t digger hire --should be some great deals to be had I already have bought a 3ton benford swivel tip articulated dumper
  3. he specifed phenolic for a reason --to get required insultaion value --so yes use pur by all means --but it will need to be thicker to get same value
  4. If I were doing it all myself --i would agree --but if you employing men to do it --then no -
  5. the clever bet says house prices will fall and less people will be moving about while they get over the finacial shock of this thing so if you are in a postion you can hold at ,thats what i would do -then wait and see
  6. just me maybe --but don,t like edpm for roof after I saw result of seagulls peckinbg at food(bones chucked out for dog ) they brought up to roof --made holes inthe apdm would be GRP for me
  7. when is his deliver date promised for kit? maybe he has not started it yet --worth a call? are there any get out or delay clauses ?
  8. I understand -but if they start --then stop ,you will have same scenario --unless you can cover that in the contract with penalty clauses for late finish If i was contractor i could not make such a promise the way things are positive side in angus with not high population you might not get lots of trades getting the lurgie-- how lucky do you feel ??
  9. I have no problem with that if price is right
  10. preferrably -if you have some dealings with the suggested supplier
  11. or pay for kit and get them to store it till you can be sure of at least getting a wind and water tight build done --finish off later when things are better?
  12. I think that will very much depend on how much of it you are going to do yourself and what type of build I really do not see a shortage of things to get the founds and drainage systems done what type of build you thinking of and how much of it will be self build ?. ICF type of build lends itself to stop start much better that TF for example, especially the woodcrete type systems and if you are self building If its going to be contractor built --then i suspect there will be problems --maybe just do founds to start with you got plans and PP ready to go?
  13. geese is what they used in rome 2000years ago
  14. 12ga pump gun --24" --also known as a ALLEY CLEANER--JUST MAKE SURE YOU SHOOT THEM IN THE FRONT
  15. I agree with @Russell griffiths when this is over I think you will find lots of trades needing work for cash quickly to recoup their losses
  16. already talked to transport scotland and they maintain it ,but do not own solum should make it very hard for planning to stop any access to a75 when somone goes for planning --but no i cannot block it and charge a toll
  17. Kirkmabreck Quarry - Plan (3).pdfI attach the site plan notice the A75 is actually owned by me -LOl maybe need to take some expensive legal advice on how to maximise its value certainly will make dealings with planning for access much easier i think some one suggested a truck stop? 40miles from stranraer --40 from dumfries --so maybe --but not for me to do
  18. yep the jetty would be ideal spot ,but i would want to sell it as one lump and you can work out the details. maybe an a gated ECO village would make planning happy
  19. the calculator they put on site --says different -which is why I,m waitng to speak to a real person -it say about 0.04 with compacted foam glass shards we will see
  20. having the sdame soort of problem --but not a real problem yet with the guys clearing the trees and road --they keep going to other jobs and coming back maybe its the price theyt quoted they do alot of work for DNO.s and railways in clearing up after storms etc still my archictect thinks i got a very good deal --so maybe this is what comes with it they keep telling me MONDAY -but not which one LOL
  21. was thinking of the foam glass chips --not the sheet have messaged them and will see what they come back with -not seen any prices yet I suspect that my house will be built on solid rock -so may be that will already be better than mud etc should be dryier -- so maybe do not need that thick a layer
  22. anyone looked at this looks like its better than insulated raft- or is it me
  23. 6" deeper than the top of garage slab--that should work
  24. I don,t see any easy way with the floor level below ground level --too late now but the slab should have been above ground level you could i suppose use blocks to jack up garage all round -then throw some plastic sheet in and just make your floor higher --that would be best solution -probably don,t even need to cement blocks if you going to fill with concrete--and don,t forget to put a run on floor to wards the doors If you work out the other proper soutions I think you will find what I suggest as alot cheaper than trying to tank or lay franch drains ,which need to connect to somethinbg lower -like main drains
  25. to secure my 2 x30 tube solar thermal array on my garage roof i used 8" wide 1/2" plate and bolted them to that -makers required 100kgs to hold them down in storms --and these sat at 50degrees --so were much taller than your PV will be I just made sure I sat them on DPC--just as well cos when iremocved them 16years later they were stuck to it -- but came off with no damage to flat roof felt-the DPC became part of the roof
