  1. Have a good moan it does help People tend to want things to be as they have always been The more you do for these complainers the more they will want some of the conditions our seller tried to impose where ridiculous One I can remember is that only immediate family live in the completed property Not sure what that was about Each day the neighbour was waiting to winge about something It does start to grate after a while
  2. This is what I do for a living A double MF wall will out perform a solid built wall for sound and air tightness I’m just pricing some factory units that have a set of offices in the middle that won’t want to listen to machinery all day Similar to the one shown but with Gypsum slabs clipped to the back of each stud
  3. Just a 250 void under the BB
  4. I bedded mine on concrete under the BB floor
  5. I did exactly that I totally missed putting a grain for the down stars loo Quick fix lift a 3 mtr line of blocks and pick up the manhole outside the back door NO CHNCE To high had to run the full length of the house Glued everything made sure the pipe was well supported and adde a chamber just outside the house Works a treat
  6. Personal recommendation is always the best option with any building service Book well in advance as good company’s are always busy and will be happy to share previous jobs with you Happy Custer’s = Low stress
  7. And also I made the first log store Unfortunately purchased the timber My wife spent hours de nailing pallets and made the second From scrap pallets and felt that was over from the first one
  8. I’m sort of between arguments here While I would never burn unseasoned timber All felled on site for the foreseeable future Many burn all sorts of rubbish Some of the guys onsite break up pallets to take home I would imagine they would make lots of smoke and burn for a short time
  9. I use quite a bit of Exterior porcelain Absolutely fine to run a car on weather won’t effect them Ideally laid on concrete If the base settles at all They will crack Where as pacers are designed to give I do quite a few car showrooms with tiles that are 15 mil thick without any issues
  10. Most will work the air test around your sap Especially the cheaper online ones I’m not sure why BC insist on an air test Most are meaningless
  11. Make sure your walls are free from damp before applying lime render It can act like a sponge
  12. If rodents gets through your render they will make quick work of the fibreglass Though I can see where he’s coming from with the steel mesh Much easier to lay fibre mesh on
  13. Yes I’ve come across this twice The second was a build of three detached houses and you could see Rats coming out of the stream and burrowing in As Mike pointed out a render coat is needed Preferably with a steel mesh laid in I will try and route some pictures out that I took
  14. My son uses Kurust in his body shop Shifts anything
  15. Yes it was sufficient We also sent planning app Commencement notice Cil agreement New house registered address Anything that had our name on it related to the plot We also wrote a letter showing timeline from purchase to vat claim and explaining that we had done most of the work ourselves while holding down full time jobs To help explain long delays between some purchases Its difficult to know what was required But we had a letter shortly after telling us that it would be around 8 weeks 4 weeks later £29364 Appeared in our account Exactly what Em we had claimed
  16. We did our own vat reclaim Following forum guidelines and where paid every penny claimed While it was a bit repetitive it was very simple to follow The hardest part was photo copying every vat receipt
  17. Ah nice My children went to Longridge high
  18. Not far from us at Preston
  19. Yes you can skim MR boards If you are tight for space 150 wall is what I normally use as a party 50 mil stud set on a stick sealant braced every 1200 vertical 25 mil acoustic insulation stapled in place Two layers of 15 mil SB These are used for dividing student blocks So pretty good acoustics One later of PB would be fine devising bedrooms Unfortunately you can’t get foil backed moister or sound boards If you are worried about sound when cutting out for lights or sockets It’s quite simple to build baffle boxes into the ceiling or studs using off cuts of pb and 25 mil angle
  20. Trouble is someone tiling one bathroom wouldn’t get involved in contracts and would want cash This guy has actually made a good job which is surprising as most of these jobbers are pretty rough and slowwwwww Ive six tilers working for me at the moment I pay them per complete job Then it’s usually 60 days before I get paid for materials and labour
  21. Looks like someone has added them to perhaps help cure condensation You may make it worse removing them
  22. Even good old google will tell you floor last main reason being If anything moves it will be the floor and damage to the floor while doing the wall Think I’ve said before If I started a tiler and he tiled the floor first he would get chance to tile the walls
