  1. Thanks Ian Kind offer
  2. I called into the Builders merchants today To. Enquire about face bricks Only to find lots of stock But all committed to House builders I was told that many of the FBs will not be available till 2023 We really should have sorted this out months ago But had nowhere to put them till planning came through
  3. I wouldn’t think the door type would make any difference
  4. If you are paying on a day rate He will be happy to help you design and move lights around If hes on a price He will expect a drawing and be able to crack on
  5. Plus 1 You’ve already tackled the main obstacle Your 90% there Just fill the form in
  6. We buy by the attic load The prices are fixed We used to buy direct from BG But now have to go through a merchant The best rates are through Sheffield insulation G tech are normally slightly cheaper than BG but not always BG have a 5% price rise coming in in Feb
  7. Belt and braces
  8. On our first build we asked the same question and we’re told Have plant or machinery on site Or breaking ground would break the rules We had a building to demolish It was ok to strip the slates and rafters but not to knock the walls down I checked again last week for our next build and the rules remain the same Just to add My reason for calling them was to check if it was ok to dig a trench to put a water supply in They said sure
  9. They are Two lots of suckers to lay them 800 x 800 are quite common now But even at that size you have to be careful not to chip them when laying
  10. Very true You can’t lay 900 plus on your own We often use 1200 X 1200 20 mil thick
  11. I use a lot of Porcelain Looks good and extremely hard waring Limestone also looks great But a much softer material and needs regularly sealing
  12. Exactly Dave He said nothing to do with Covid or Brexit Its environmental restraints He said it’s mind boggling that he can sell ply from Brazil and China can be sold cheaper than OSB from Scotland He thinks 12.5 mil hardwood faced ply will settle around 20 quid when you are buying multiples Scant joists and Roof batons have stayed high But are starting to fall He did say with many Architects specifying Red or Blue roof batons They are overstocked with the plain green treated batons and as a group can now reduce by 20% Its good to here a bit of positive feedback
  13. A good friend of mine who is a regional rep for Build Base Came out to site today with news on building products Concrete products set to rise Timber products are falling in price He also mentioned that BB are getting into the heat pump market Even Pasquils who he deals with have reduced quotes from six months ago So not all doom and gloom on the materials front
  14. If it’s one of the gyprock coving me They are very cheap and easy to install If it’s a fibres plaster cornice The price is correct for a contractor rate 9” cornice
  15. Structual Direct from the saw mil Cheshire
  16. They are better glued and ring nailed Im guessing because you are using Egger because the floor will be open to the elements The problem with using screws is that the heads when sunk are leaving a lot of large holes for the water to get in While open to the elements
  17. Cana deck was over £30 a sheet at one stage Even TP are down to £23 now Some of the saw mills are selling ply at £22 again some where cashing in at £35 Things are definitely better than they where
  18. You should also make a decent sizes saving
  19. One bit of good news is timber sheet material have dropped by about a third Unless you shop at Wickes ?
  20. Terrific progress Especially this past year
  21. Sounds good Welcome A few pics would be good
  22. I wouldn’t think flow screed price that much “Up Norf “ Or outside central London ?
  23. Absolutely no problem with traditional On 150m2 floor you would be looking at 20 ton load of screed No chance of anything moving As a business I probably only tile five flow screed per year and have seen two lift in the past five years Flo is great for tiling But everything needs to be down tight Or as you say you will only get a fine covering on the pipes
  24. It is But necessary I’ve been to tile two flo screed floors that haven’t been flat The only explanation is the screed getting under the insulation But the plastic seals the hole tight and there’s a slip membrane between the screed and the insulation So no chance of damp It normally takes two of us about an hour to do a 150m2 floor If your screed guys are responsible for installing the insulation They will probably do this with asking
  25. They are just a plastic stem with a round plastic disk on the top Drill a 8 mil hole through the insulation and into the floor avoiding the beams Then tap in I normally put five per sheet when fixing Ready-fix sell them by the 200 box
