The joists will have to sit tight in the hangers Definitely don’t pack The blocks should be pretty neat if they are building hangers into the

You need to leave a void I often gypliner properties 50 mill Rockwool bat for sound and insulation 15 mil void While The bats will repel water in a cavity There not waterproof and any damp on the masonry will strike through While line plaster can be quite fashionable it will act s a sponge if the walls are damp Which is probably why the previous owner MF it out

I can’t remember the brand But it did say bilge and hull paint on the tin Bought from preston marina shop My wife picked it up The chap said normally lasts five years submerged
-
We had four beams to reuse on the front of the garage We used a silver paint purchased from a local boat yard For painting the underside of boats Cheap as chips No rust five years on

vat reclaim
nod replied to Barryscotland's topic in Self Build VAT, Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), S106 & Tax
I can only go off experience But we found it real basic stuff I’m not why a vat specialist would be needed -
I’ve no experience of resin But imprinted is very easy Not your normal concrete I’ve purchased from Tilcon in the past

I spent about ten minutes looking through the form Put the claim in and received exactly what we had claimed £29316 I can only go off experience Seemed very straight forward compared to some of the vat I deal with -

They are not looking to catch you out We found putting the claim together was easy but mind numbing We copied all our invoices which was the most time consuming part EBay recipes Anything that shows you have paid the vat -
I’m not sure now But back in the 80s there where quite a few self build co operatives local to me No building experience needed You just committed to 25 hours per week Wadswortg and Saxon was one that springs to mind

As I think as long as long as you don’t go in to installing ASHP thinking it will be cheaper than a gas boiler You won’t be disappointed

While I hate the look of solar panels Especially on slate In roof at least saves you some slates or tiles
-
We do quite a bit of clay works and Venetian The surface needs to be perfect before applying the primer We normally tape and joint PB Or skim prior to priming I take the tiles off and make good

Definitely We both worked four days and worked the other three on the house I worked each evening While I don’t intend doing as many hours this time I’m confident that our 360 will build the house and workshop combined 316m2 The key is the laboure I have run a plastering- framing and tiling business for many years But didn’t use any of the lads Sort of felt like cheating Plus most earn several hundred per day and I was conscious of the cost Your home looks fantastic Well done

Cut the trees back and keep them cut There are many slate roofs that have been in place 100 plus years Without any membrane The roof will see you out Uour overthinking it and worrying about nothing
-
I think a nice design doesn’t have to cost anymore I like a gallery landing as it gives a wow factor Many just seem hung up with bedroom space I do think that if you are set in your ideas An Architecht is probably not for you We told our Architecht what we wanted and he came up with three designs I’d like to think we have the best bits of all three

Wickes have just knocked £8 a sheet off Structual ply Only a fiver a sheet more than buying a full pack from the saw mill Nice to see things going the right way
-
I’m 60 now Last time we did most things while working full time so hoping not to do to much of the block work this time Perhaps just the foundations But pretty much most other things
-
With our start date looming closer Something I’ve put off for a while Mainly due to constant material rises Even muck away was up and thankfully down now Most things seam to of either stabilized or are heading down Even Pasquils quote of six months ago has dropped by 15% In any case I can base coatings on here and now We finished our previous build three years ago So the spreadsheet for that was a good place to start and a way of not missing what seamed like small items Off the new spreadsheet Previous build came in at £815m2 Two story Traditional build Two detached garages Very good quality of finishing Ive noticed this morning That I never included the m2 of the two detached garages Just added the cost into the overall build cost So the 815 was probably lower But I will still split m2 of the house and garage - Workshop As overall is 416m The actual house is 308.21 I feel quite confident that our budget of 350k should be ok The ground is a lot better now We had a tank and three 4 meter holes to fill Two with concrete and thankfully the the third with hardcore I Once I get the foundations in I should be able to cost most things accurately

I would normally use Gypsum Acoustic sealant where the plasterboard meets the block In the same way as the dealings are sealed Then D&D as normal Continuous lines of drywall Or wet backing plaster
