  1. Battens are to thin You can buy door Timbers that are cut to width Push them in then tap them against a solid wall I normally by them by the pack with the metal But they will sell individually Just count your doors up Sold in 2.4 lengths
  2. He probably knows less than you do about plastering Hardwall tough coat Sand and cement are all fine Sand and cement being the densest of the three

    New build

I haven’t trolled through the replies But hopefully someone has pointed out that 10 cavity isn’t workable Some friends of ours had exactly the same spec and ended up reducing the cavity board and using insulated plasterboard on all exterior walls Expensive mistake
  4. 4” angle grinder with a diamond blade
  5. I’ve taken them in line with the ridge on single story
  6. You can do it yourself But you will also need a structural engineer’s calcs probably as cheap to get him to do a drawing and submit it for you
  7. Plus 1 Planners don’t tend to get involved Very quick to sort out over the phone and email
  8. That’s a good point The farm and cottage Which was probably a cow shed was the first house in the area Hence the listed We had all sorts of restrictions even matching the stone quoins that had been rendered over and sash windows that had been replaced with UPVC and Everest Doug le glazing 😁
  9. Marked in blue is the origenal tiny cottage attached to the listed farm our previous build is in there garden
  10. I’m not sure of the percentage rule Our neighbor has extended there listed cottage 200%
  11. No You don’t need battens But I would use 22 mil chipboard Only 4 mil but will make a massive difference Glue all the joints plenty of wedges around the perimeter 22 mil expansion gap is perfect
  12. Ha ha She works for free Just like me 😁
  13. I would blame the builder I wouldn’t expect the Counsul Or planners to be that interested Unless it sank 😁
  14. So it’s nothing to do with the builder It’s the Counsul that promised you paver not Tarmac
  15. Planners really won’t have any interest in what the builder promised
  16. As above Forget the planning permission route Planners won’t be interested Go back to your original conveyancing solicitor
  17. Anything under 300 is fine If your buying a part board they are sold in multiples of 300 ie 1200 length Personally I think that the smaller the better
  18. 300 Sofit board 250 box end is perfect
  19. I agree I always try and understand a pic No need for any edge support at 400 centre 15 you use 15 mil or thicker boards No need at 600
  20. Straight across at 400 centers
  21. The fitter should have used a band of silicone
  22. No If it won’t scrape off It will be ok to tile
  23. I agree Our first build was when the Brexit vote was announced Everything went up then This time no one could have predicted it But plenty have added there but onto the price hike Suppliers are feeling the pinch
