Yes - they were left out together to stabilise, maybe one absorbed more sun than the other. -

Get decent class 1 tapes and work with them. Here are two of mine, about 1mm out over 8m, against a non class one tape. -
How to play - The SunAmp Guessing Game
MikeSharp01 replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Energy Storage
Guess the Sunamp must know when it is full! So you only need to measure outflow of energy and use that to determine top up regime / requirement. -
How to play - The SunAmp Guessing Game
MikeSharp01 replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Energy Storage
Actually not heard you can get this with a normal hot water tank does Sunamp actually know how much is left? Interesting problem none the less. So you would need to know how much flow you had taken through and the temperature of it as it went through, it would still be somewhat error prone depending upon accuracy / resolution of the measuring devices. -
Wrong glass type - who is responsible?
MikeSharp01 replied to DeanAlan's topic in Building Regulations
If the installer is FENSA registered then they should be checking that the install meets the regs as they have their registration to consider, might be worth a lookup. -
Very interesting read, not all the way yet but you have spotted the vampire warming load issue (P6) which we have been discussing / investigating here: others will be interested in your observations / highlighting of the issue.

Brilliant - Just goes to show what can be done if you put your mind to it - human ingenuity at its best!

Looking good though - progress one block at a time.

We usually go to Kalcan, hire Jeep and go into the hinterland north. Great fun provided you stick to the less travelled roads. Anyway looking forward to hearing about your project and ideas there is so much, so many, here on ASHP / heating / cooling / DHW / Solar Thermal / PV... to discuss and share ideas.

Yes should have used that. We love Türkiye but have not been there for 10 years now, various reasons, but will be going back.
-
Interestingly the converse of my experience of Turkey where you need the cooling on all night!

It's a bank holiday so we can work unhindered although I just noticed our local BM delivering stuff to a site up the road! Sunny here also, but raining tomorrow, so think I will have a day doing something else, maybe read an improving book- EG a treatise on the finer points of ASHP standby power draw.

Ecodan standby power consumption
MikeSharp01 replied to LA3222's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Nope foot-pound/seconds, to be frank I dredged it up from my far distant memory so I could be well wrong but based on 1 kg⋅m2⋅s−3. -

Don't worry the government are about to launch a consultation about bringing back imperial units. That will mean talking about, BTU, foot pound / seconds & horsepower (and have to deal with the fact that HP differs by country), instead of Joules, and Watts. -
Yes - think about it, you are reducing the effective depth at the point where you want the max strength. You might discuss using a deeper flat hanger and putting a sloping wooden insert in the bottom to rest the rafter on with your SE.

It's not over until it's over so hope for the best and prepare for the worst by finding a good planning consultant in case you need to appeal.

Ecodan standby power consumption
MikeSharp01 replied to LA3222's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Looks like nothing much has changed in 9 years then - this is close to obscene in the sense that we are all being encouraged to fit these devices for 'eco' reasons and yet the devices themselves are not so eco as all that. Looks like the scroll compressor driven units do not exhibit this effect so that's the way to go + asking what the standby current is for a unit you want to start instantly. -

It is odd given that you could use something like the EPS32 mini in a light sleep to watch over it and that would cost about 3p per year to run and be ready for action on reciept of a prod via wifi, Bluetooth, it's RTC or one of its pins. -
Very tidy, if you don't count the 45 degree link on the veroboard😁, where would we be without veroboard I wonder?

Thought I would dig about a bit more on this topic - from an academic point of view at least. Found this link (https://learn.openenergymonitor.org/pv-diversion/introduction/choosing-an-energy-diverter.md) very useful in setting out the landscape rather well. I found very little actual academic research on the topic but there are more commercial devices out there than I had suspected although few give away much about the technology they use.

perhaps adds to it for some though!

Should I be sorry to here that - if so I am?
