Why not get an RTX 5090 card for you desktop pc. True they don't have the shared ram but they should do all you need. I have a 3090 with just 24Gb of ram but it does all I need.

Are you intending to have a hob - that will need its own feed. What are these for - bathrooms have very specific restrictions?

Neighbours want to scaffold in my courtyard
MikeSharp01 replied to DannyT's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Enjoy! -
I suppose that consumer high end local LLM schemes need large memory but you can do the same thing with a cloud based one while you await delivery of enough RAM, or whatever other semiconductor you are waiting on. Trouble is that the end of the proverbial rainbow is moving away from you faster than you can stuff memory into machines anyway, so, when your RAM arrives there will be plenty of models it won't run because they have grown, bloated, faster than you can add RAM to your machine.

Eeeeeek - remind me not to even think about building next to you or indeed any of your family without my Party Wall surveyor all suited and booted in the crew cabin. -

I have rarely had to go anywhere else. -
I thought that the idea of any patent followed the basic creative principle that novelty flows from the particular combination of non novel (existing) ideas. It's the way human creativity works - by combining things we already know in novel ways. All patents are just novel combinations of old ideas.

For my part I tend to agree but it has been done pretty thoroughly for a scheme at this scale. It may just have been applied for as a blocking / obscuring patent requiring the big boys & girls to really do their homework which may put them off and they won't be as agile as a startup. Worst thing is the people who don't both about infringing patents - which I assume is part of the reference to them mainly being a joke.

This is a great contribution to self build and wider market @SimonD. It strikes me as taking the work @Jeremy Harris did way back and moving it up to a whole new level by both allowing the heat loss work to be undertaken and moving it through to the design of the accompanying heating system. It is also great that you chose to share it with us.

Just post the figures here, redact any address details, and I am sure someone will give it a look. -
We are subject to the vagaries of Thames Water here and we have woeful water pressure and flow. We live on a hill that has a number of springs and is know for its wells hence I am thinking of installing a bore hole. So what are the issues and the likely cost? Anybody got any experiences of doing this?

Don't the modern single block mcb+rcbo units do this, if not why do they have a neutral terminal.

What sort of construction is this?
MikeSharp01 replied to MikeSharp01's topic in General Construction Issues
Yes it looks like pilling blinding as there is a pilling rig there today so good spot @Mr Punter. So they drill core drill through the blinding and then put the piles in all very neat and tidy - no mud other than what comes out of the hole! -

the crosses might indicate that although they seem quite far apart for piles don't they? It will be interesting to see what happens next - I will report back.
