You cannot deal with or pay Internorm direct sadly you have no choice but to go through a distributor.

Great news well done fantastic achievement. Have a well earned glass or two now!

COD or faster bank payment on delivery perhaps? Once you have the goods if they go bust you can get someone else to fit. Windows are a big stress on any build.

Welcome, great forum, lots of help.

Removing plaster splashes from feature brickwork
lizzie replied to joe90's topic in Plastering & Rendering
I had plaster splashes on a feature wall in last house. Tried everything couldnt get rid of them. In the end I bought some brick tint on line and did a very careful job on the splashes. It worked a treat, dont paint whole bricks though that looks awful just used an artists brush and feathered the splashes. I bought the samples of the brick colour only cost a few bob and was far more than I needed. If your splashes are fairly small diameter I would try this approach. -
I had an issue with Miele years ago. I now only have their vacuum cleaner. Where possible I stick with Neff these days, I like their products and they have good service for faults under warranty. I had my old neff fridge and freezer 25 years and still going strong when I sold the house. Had zanussi washer dryer lasted 15 years

I was very nervous about my windows. I always try to use CC for deposits as it gives some security but window company would not take credit card. I paid them deposit of more than £15k by bacs and when a few months later we found out the manager had been sacked and he had not put my order in to window supplier, fortunately they acknowledged my money was in their bank but I was still very very worried. However we got windows in the end but it was very stressful. If you can pay by credit card then that is the best way for peace of mind.

@NSS that armaflex looks a good idea the polystyrene doesnt seem to be very substantial. Did you add that or was it supplied as part of your system? -
mvhr general question
lizzie replied to lizzie's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Thanks @ProDave thought it must be to do with insulation . I seem to have 2 pipes that look like expanding metal and two that look like grey polystyrene........ -
I see lots of photos posted on here of various MVHR systems, they all seem to have some form of silver foil wrapped round the big pipes coming from the unit. I have no silver foil on mine.......please what is its purpose and do I need it. System is due to be commissioned in a couple of weeks so if I need to ask a question of the installer its the time to do it. Thank you!

Safety Netting for scaffolds

We bought some rolls of the green fine mesh to put on our heras fencing as neighbour wanted ‘privacy’ its semi opaque so did a part job. Think I got it from ebay. Reasonably cheap. We are single storey so didnt need it on the scaffold. -
I think its £12 to park on site if I recall. If you choose you can park off site cheaper and get the bus in. I have seen plenty of people paying entrance fees. live not far away and have been to many many shows at NEC. I’m starting to be sorry I posted .......I just made an offer to pass on something that came my way. I was not expecting such a critical reaction. I will think twice about doing anything like this again. I hope the person who had the tickets enjoys the show.

I have an e-mail link to 2 free tickets to the Homebuilding and Renovating Show at Birmingham NEC 22-25 March value £36. I won't be using them myself so if anyone would like them let me know and I can e-mail you the link.

Log burner
lizzie replied to jpinthehouse's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
I have a progressive lung condition. It is not asthma, it is not curable, it will kill me. My annuity was enhanced as on the actuarial index my life expectancy is lower than average due to this condition. I do not use inhalers. My condition is not caused by my environment but is impacted by it. Unless you have the misfortune to experience what it is actually like to live your life with compromised breathing then you have no idea how it feels. Wood burners have an adverse affect on my health as do garden bonfires and barbeques. I have no control over this as my lung condition is not caused by environmental circumstances but my ability to breathe is compromised hugely by these things over which I have no control. I lived many years in Africa where wood burning and charcoal making are the way of life (I do not mean white suburban south africa but africa proper). The landscape has become a dustbowl due to the trees being removed and burnt at a greater rate than they can grow this in turn has caused the soil to erode and is responsible in large part for the famines in that continent. Lack of rain is not the only factor. The pollution caused by all this wood burning is huge. If you have ever flown into Johannesburg at dawn and seen the pall of woodsmoke hanging over the townships as the population rise and prepare their breakfast you would be utterly shocked. Africans in poor circumstances have little choice but to burn what they can and they do it to survive. Here in western Europe people do it as a lifestyle choice with no thought for the pollution they are belching out it is just trendy to have a log burner. There are other far better forms of heating that can be used. I am sorry if this is not a popluar view but I speak as someone who’s quality of life is governed by my surroundings and the air quality in my immediate vicinity. I do also have the food issues referred to amongst other things, its all to do with immune system. I would like to see wood burners of all sorts banned as soon as possible and perhaps when I have some time when this build is finished if I have any energy left I will try and start a campaign to get them banned. -

I wear fingerless gloves all the time, I have some natty ones from amazon that are also mild compression gloves to help with my arthritis. What with those and the thick wooly socks I am no longer a fashion icon LOL -
Planning permission (close to a listed building).

My OH is a specialist land and planning lawyer and a legal associate of the RTPI (LARTPI). He deals with all sorts of planning issues (not getting permission but bailing people out of problems afterwards usually) I know he would suggest a few £'s on a planning consultant would be money well spent. If you don't know one in your area send me your postcode and I can ask him to do a look up for you for a local one. -

Have you had a chat with the conservation officer to see exactly what his concerns are and how you can address them? It may be that you need to engage the help of a planning consultant (not a lawyer) for this aspect they are very used to dealing with this sort of thing. It could be a few hundred £'s well spent to get it right and approved first time. -
