Ecodan 8.5KW not reaching set water temp
JoeBano replied to Gary68's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
I’ve just put an electric towel radiator in my bathroom. It’s 500w just for drying towels so I don’t have to put ashp on. It’s smart Wi-Fi one, it’s got a nice feature when’s its -2c outside it will turn on. That could be an option for you. -

Electric Tariff best for Solar and ASHP
JoeBano replied to Ambaz79's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
I’m on octopus agile it’s fairly cheap average 22p/kWh all day but between 4pm-7pm can be expensive. If got battery storage that could work well in the expensive slot. Not sure how the solar export works on that tariff, you’ll have to do some digging. -
Vaillant Arotherm in open loop, with buffer

The water pump is always running. The compressor will turn off when Flow and return temperatures are equal. The compressor will turn back on when the flow temperature is 5c lower than the target flow temperature. That’s the scenario on my heat pump (grant aerona3) -
I have given up trying cool with radiators doesn’t even lower the room temperature, Tried multiple fans scenarios with no luck. Gonna have to start looking to change the radiator for cooling option ones.

They have a heating history on them so you can see how many hours your heating as been on a particular day. I’m just annoyed google took them over! Octopus agile tariff could connect them before, which I could use the hot water side purely for trigging my low tariff mode on the heat pump boasting my flow temperature.

I wouldn’t have a nest then the smart features can be a pain to turn off then randomly come back on.
-
I’ve got nest on my radiators and heat miser on the Ufh. Nest works great really. If you have been away and turned the heating off you can switch it back on your phone.

I’ve just had a year out of my self install second hand heat pump. I’ve used 3700kwh in a year for last year cooling heating and hot water for a family of 4. I averaged 22p/kwh on octopus go and it’s even cheaper now no octopus agile so it’s been fairly cheap to run for me. Every new build I’ve worked this year (I’m a plasterer) they are all been heat pump for the connection costs or a planning requirement as it’s on a point scoring system now. As the for the heat pumps they’ve been Samsung or grant aerona3

Toshiba Estia 300L heat pump cylinder

I’m using a 180l megaflow with my heat pump. I’ve been using this since I had an electric boiler. The coil is 3m, you can pick them up cheap on eBay. My 10kw heat pump can warm from cold to 50c in 40ish minutes and doesn’t cycle. -
That’s nice to know the auto balance ones works with cooling. Thanks for your info, not that much information on the underfloor cooling out there. I’m just in the process of getting a new stat which does cooling and then setting up weather compensation on my heat pump then I can just leave it alone.
-
I get quite a bit of condensation on my Ufh manifold but I’m not concerned as it’s in the garage just drips on the floor. I get water through the door on a heavy downpour. Dan have you got normal Actuators or the auto balancing ones?
-
I’m running at 12c, any lower I’ve been getting a tiny amount of condensation on the floor not pleasant on the bare foot. It was on for 24hrs but I do get solar gains in part of my kitchen (south facing)
-
What temperature do your cooling the slab to with Ufh Dan? I’ve been playing about with mine, the lowest I could get the air temperature inside was 23c when it was 30c outside. I put it on the evening before.

Fan Coil Units for use with a (cooling) ASHP
JoeBano replied to ProDave's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Has anyone come across these radiator/fcu? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403556834346?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=mvUzJ46sQYS&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=fvrkSYgnQ2C&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY they look a bit nasty but the price isn’t bad at all saying myson ivector is 3 times the price. Condensate pipe for cooling -
I have a smart towel radiator in our bathroom, helps when the heating it off to dry towels. It also has a feature to come on when it’s reaches a certain temperature outside, I have it set to -2 just give us a help in winter. I do have wet Ufh as well though.

Two questions - I'm a newbie
JoeBano replied to Adrian_london's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
I’m on octopus agile and this morning at 1am the price of electricity was -5.46 (p/kWh) with that battery storage you will be laughing. It was super low until 5am going to 17 (p/kWh) -
You can check the power consumption on the little white grant control unit. Hold the cog symbol to a 0000 comes up and using the up & down keys put in 0103 press the tick button. This is the power consumption at the time, it’s read only so you can’t change anything. 3200w was hot water cycle, heating cycle around 2700w then will drop down to depending how cold it is outside.

That’s a good link didn’t realise 10mm plastic is the same as microbore.
