  1. Go to wonder how a judge would see that attitude..............
  2. could they cut out the slots using an oscillating saw with a diamond blade?
  3. Best one I ever bought was made by Earlex. It's a wet and dry and still going after more than 15 years. Only thing I ever wish is I bought the model with power take off
  4. before you laminate, make a slightly larger hole for hanging than you need, so the laminate seals on itself. Otherwise water will get to the paper through a hole you make afterwards
  5. And saved a load of money by not having someone telling you what you already know and giving you a certificate for it
  6. pay by credit card? If so get them involved and then tell the supplier they can deal with the credit card company if they don't refund within 7 days
  7. Absolutely agree with every single word!!
  8. Apart from the cost, what about 2 doors to get round that?
  9. I would carry on with the delivery too, why make yours or your builders like any more work cos a neighbour doesn't like you doing, which is perfectly reasonable and what you're entitled to. That's his problem not yours. Why not knock on his door when the driver arrives and ask him if he needs to go out. If he then calls the police for any reason, you can show you were trying to make sure it didn't affect him (but personally I would just get on with it and let him rant - while you're phone is on record just in case.
  10. Would a truck with hiab reach 10-12m?
  11. so they are 100x80 and not a sheet material? I have also looked into Foamglas and they have mentioned using cement board on the top which is something you just posted about using under your doors
  12. I'm half Italian, family is from the South. What I have been told is yes you can get land/property, the villages are dying off as the younger generation don't want to follow the family business and move off to the cities. You're left with villages of older generation with nothing going on. So you'd have to be ready for the lifestyle. I think if I was in your shoes, I would start going to look at land/properties and that will help you know what you want and where you want. I don't know how far you are from Wales, but a mate of mine was doing 4 hours drives to look at land in Wales until he found the right one for him.
  13. Afternoon, I'm ok with giving up on the idea of a thermal break in my garage door thresholds, but would still like to exhaust the options and feasibility. Seeing Russell's post earlier mentioning XPS 500 https://www.soprema.co.uk/en/product/insulation/xps/xps-500 I wondered about that product as it states "XPS 500 is mainly used as thermal insulation for floors and car parks where a high compressive strength is required." Now what I'd really like to know if anyone can help, is what sort of compression figure I would need for cars to drive over. I know I would still need something to make/cover the actual threshold that the tyres would physically drive over, but I'd imagine that can be thinner if the compression of the product under it is higher?? Cheers Vijay
  14. I genuinely believe dreams are a brilliant thing to have and I wish you all the luck in the world, wish I was in a a position do do what I'm doing years ago. The only thing I think you're crazy about, is your money source. Money and friends/family do not mix. What are you going to do if your family need/want their money for some reason, it's a recipe for falling out in my opinion. It's not an easy amount of money to repay.
  15. Some sort of gravel?
  16. I totally agree with this, everyone makes mistakes, it's how far they go to put it right that shows a good company. It could be down to one employee who's done that job and passed it, which is shameful.
  17. Sad that a company would send that out to a customer as a professional job.
  18. this coming winter will be my second one open with B&B floor. I didn't notice any issues after the last winter, so hope it's ok lol
  19. not easy in a semi detached though is it unless the neighbours and council agree?
  20. Does it depend where you remove the chimney from, so if you were removing all the breasts, would you still use a UB in the loft or would gallows brackets do there?
  21. Indeed I am building using Polarwall
  22. Have you looked at Polarwall ICF? Can't see any issues with openings at all, I think that's a big advantage for the system, can be adapted as you go
  23. I seem to remember someone posting on here that they got lost on the return journey, so might be worth scanning/copying them just in case?
  24. Lidl are now doing a more powerful twin paddle one for £49.99. Worth the extra money? https://www.lidl.co.uk/en/p/diy/parkside-twin-paddle-mixer/p34505
