  1. Stack to me is all of the 110mm pipework. Technically the SVP is only the piece of pipe above the last part of all the ‘wet’ 110mm stuff eg the section that only takes the whiff up and away. That branch has quite generous sweeps to it so should be fine. Others are very abrupt and would / could promote cross flow. If the horizontal parts of the stack ( branches ) have just the minimum fall then last nights byriani will not be doing 125mph when it gets to the vertical drop, so not such an issue anyway.
  2. If it doesn’t rectify you near to horizontal then no. Post a link to the fitting. Yes, no drop needed but a fall will be required howsoever short the run ends up bring. Yes, exiting the wall at an angle. That is the unicorn, but I’ve done countless with a T branch without ever having an issue ( coupled with a fall to the stack and the stack falling to the SVP riser ).
  3. Swept / regular is fine. The 110mm branch I linked doesn't come to 87.5 degree like a regular branch would, so you'll need to install fittings into the branch, either side, to pick up each of the horizontal runs of 110mm so they have the correct fall. Not sure what you mean, sorry? If you mean the WC's connecting immediately to the soil stack without dropping first, then yes, that's fine too, just make sure there is a distinct fall between the outlet of the WC and where the pipe turns towards the stack. If possible, for the middle WC with the branch, could you make that a 45 at the back of the toilet into a Y branch ( instead of WC straight into a T branch ) so the connection is truly swept?
  4. 50mm small bore runs will negate any further mitigation. It'll allow an air break, and as the horizontal runs are across the 3 items, there wouldn't ever be an opportunity for a vacuum to occur ( IMO lol ). I've done so many of these I've lost count.
  5. You will need to use a 15 degree or 30 degree bend out of that to rectify to the correct fall, or a variable 45 link as required. If you have a vent to atmosphere then the traps will be fine IMHO, as long as every single piece of waste pipe under the floors is done in 50mm, and not 40mm anywhere until above and horizontal. Yup. I prefer the swept wherever possible but back in the day I fitted a good few like this without any 'known' issues.
  6. Same thing as to be expected....... "problem, solved" ?
  7. “The most award-winning wireless security system in Europe”. Still cloud based / WiFi dependent I assume. Seems so be a recurring Achilles heel of modern ‘smart’ stuff.... I think what is becoming apparent, upon reflection, is to separate a security system from the cameras and other smart ‘non essential’ security / communications devices and get a balance through strategically employing the two differing disciplines to suit each instance. I think I’m now sold on the Texecom and even if it isn’t ‘cutting edge’ I honestly don’t need it to be. What it does look like, is , that it’s robust and user friendly which I do need. Wireless micro door / window sensors are a bog bonus, plus the mesh is an inarguably robust means of checking and maintaining comms between devices. Think I’m now of an opinion that the cloud and WiFi isn’t something I want for an alarm other than for sporadic connectivity for downloads / updates / remote diagnosis.
  8. Off to research Texecom. Relays for switched output? Need something generic. Nothing bespoke if possible. Shelley is ok if they ‘want’ to understand and get involved, but it’s another App to go into. Ring have the external floodlight CCTV cameras ( external, as I wouldn’t ever fit smart internal cameras for obvious reasons ) so that’s one detail absorbed in a single supplier solution, and the lights can be manipulated or automated by PIR ) and then the alarm system is plug n play out of the box so I’m quite happy to continue on that path unless someone offers a very good reason to jump to a generic hard wired system?
  9. Genuinely, I spent most of a day looking at reviews. Didn’t appear once. ADT stuff primarily, and then the ‘smart home’ stuff followed close by. I’m ( clients are ) looking for remote access ( not really interested in monitoring or response ) and the ability to switch on devices when not at home. Eg toggle floodlights on/off to compliment the CCTV ( which would typically reside on another platform ) and so on. I’m all up for a hard wired install, done numerous, but if there is a wireless solution which can be bleached from the dwelling in say 10-15 years time, and replaced without interruption to the dwelling, then that would make sense for something I want to ‘sell’ Question is, is there a reason NOT to use Ring, and the products marry up well with at least one requisite. Also can you post or PM re the other forum?
  10. Hard wired only? Got 2 or 3 that need alarms installing, so I’ve been researching like crazy. Texecom didn’t exactly jump off the PC screen at any time during ‘best 5’ or ‘top ten’ reviews etc. I quite like the Ring family of products including the alarm.
  11. Sounds good. "Carry on!".
  12. Hi Julian. 36l/m is a great flow rate, some get as little as 11-12 or half tidy at 16-18-20. 5-6 bar static should give you at least 1bar dynamic with a single shower flowing, but that is actually an academic way of looking at it and I would certainly rest easy if I was quoting you for an UVC with those results Have a chat with Trevor at Cylinders2go and mention the forum. Lots on here have gone with them.
  13. Which is still shite.
  14. Yup. Driving is now just a sad part of working the 'wrong side' of the bridge. If I'm to be on site for 08:00 then I usually have to leave the house before 05:00. Chargeable, but I'd rather not be doing it all the same.
  15. We may have to have a quiet retrospective chat about my rates for tiling then !
  16. Divorce rates would sky rocket lol
  17. Not me. Nor any of the sub contractors I use either. We’ve often been there until the bitter end of a Friday. Inpay very good rates to my guys and wouldn’t expect anything less. 5 days are 5 equal days, you can chill out on Saturday until your hearts content. Too many out there expect a day of easy street after 4 days of graft. Not a problem if I can pay them 50% on Friday for slacking off, but the 1st person to ask for that would be the next person to leave. Sacked 11 guys from Barrow one morning for pretty much the same work ethic. Kept the other gang of local Geordies on who pretty much did the work of those 11 wasters inclusive of their normal day anyway. There are grafters and tossers. I’m glad to have generally found grafters who’ve been worth their weight, but a few have been a little less overwhelming. They got paid accordingly, or left.
  18. Indeed. Days go much quicker too if you push on, which is important to me as I’m away from a wife and 4 dependant children. Sooner I can chew through the work sheet the better. Would ve differeht if the pubs were open, for the craic, but I’ve become almost unable to drink past a coupe of beers these days anyhoo.... Times have changed and it’s been a good respite in some respects, with being able to readdress priorities and take stock ( during Covid ).
  19. Yup. I’m away a lot and it’s just far more cost effective to put in a long day, by the time you factor in travel / fuel / accommodation. I’d rather be grafting and earning than sat in the hotel bar getting fatter. If I’m near home, I do shorter days typically, but more often than not I’m on price not day / hour rate, so the sooner I get it done the more profitable the week.
  20. Which is where we come in Fabric first approach every time, but a commercial concern won't always "do the right thing" as that isn't necessarily what is sets out to achieve. Whilst British BRegs are still so utterly dogshit, we cannot complain to those taking advantage of it. Sad, but true ( honest ).
  21. Mitigation by design will be your friend here. Solar reflective glazing is a good ally, so are blinds / canopies etc.
  22. Yes, but I do not wish to divulge how I found that out.........
  23. Play nicely. ? You’re both right, now go back outside and get some sunlight on you.
  24. Keep an eye out. Sabre- toothed tiger seen loose in your area. Be on high alert
  25. Yes And yes. ? All push fit fittings take copper or plastic Remember the inserts !!
