  1. Nae brave enough to say it in earshot of Mrs @Onoff I suspect
  2. @Digmixfill will think he's joined a lunatic asylum! We're not always as bad for going off topic - honest and @Onoff can play nicely sometimes.
  3. So would she so thank your lucky stars! PS send her my condolences She deserves a medal! Congrats tho!
  4. You take that long and pay attention to detail over EVERYTHING? Wow I’m impressed . Your missus must always be happy and smiley
  5. Nope! There is only 1 sloooowest medal category here and its current owner is @Onoff whose bathroom renovation started on the old forum and still isn’t finished . People have built whole houses in less time
  6. They probably thought there was no chance of that happening in Scotland
  7. My main living space is lovely and cool in hot weather with no effort on my part. There is one room at the back with a fair bit of solar gain and I could help with that if I closed the integrated blinds in this weather. Should get off my arse and sort that really lol, even if it’s just some of the windows. I don’t sit in there so not a major issue but very hot when I go through that room to access the garden.
  8. Have a search for Wren on this forum - lots of comments about them on here. Congrats on getting the keys - exciting times!
  9. When my brother and I were children my parents had a wall of cork tiles in their dining room. Being delightful kids and obviously being forward thinking and seeing the style disaster that they were to become my brother and I used to sit and pick bits out of the cork tiles .
  10. Email them back, ask them to reconsider as you are about to order and a discount would seal the deal. Nothing ventured ...
  11. That looks fabulous!
  12. Time heals. The time to feel proud is another phase of your journey yet to come. It will take a while, but you will reach that happy place.
  13. Welcome!
  14. I meant what they were suggesting in this video. I’ve never touched the in room vents but unlike the MHVR at least I could get to them.
  15. Hubby did this in the last house. Just hammered it out. Guess he was expecting me to whip the credit card out if it got buggered ?
  16. Welcome! I don’t have any experience of ICF, but wanted to say welcome and looking forward to seeing what you create. If you wanted to start a blog on here that would be a great way of capturing the project from start to finish. I got bored of doing my blog and stopped before the end. Looking back I so wish I had completed it, and I wish I had taken more photos of various stages too. So my advice is to photograph like crazy and write up every stage. When you are in the thick of it it’s hard to envisage that you could ever forget, but the memory does go hazy after a while. Looks a great project BTW!
  17. Yours would only ever need to include the cost of materials since you will never pay for labour no matter how difficult something is considered to be
  18. +1. Our tiler did ours. Given the state of my plumbing disasters I feel lucky to have dodged a bullet there.
  19. Lol, I have a central vac - another unused relic here! I was thinking I would be able to buy a couple of new filters and rotate them if I ever get near enough to the bloody thing to remove them!
  20. How come grants are available only if you live north of Dunblane? And good on you for pushing the connection issue, especially if they have a pole on your land that you can't use!
  21. I found this video on You Tube and it implies that you just vacuum the filters in the one I have (if you can reach it of course ). Even if it needs replacing it looks like I could just cut the foam to fit?
  22. Do you clean the in room extract filters?
  23. That would be my starting point too
  24. Thanks! After almost 9 years I suspect that no air is getting in at all. It would certainly explain the silence around the intake vent vs the clearly working outlet. I’m still trying to decide whether I can board a path to the unit myself. It seems straightforward using pre cut boards but maybe I’m missing something. At least if I put a path in so I can reach the middle of the loft I should be able to locate the thing. I can’t even see it currently.
