showers, washbasins, toilets etc.

I guess what I meant was if you posted the details of what you actually chose we could have a look for the same or similar. The condition about the contract isn’t that unusual tbh. Shops often have pricing errors and won’t honour them, especially online. I ordered a handbag online the other week (what a shock ) and the order was later cancelled as ‘not available’. It was last year’s style (subtly different from the same thing this year) so I was surprised to see it in truth but thought they were just selling off the old style for a bargain price. -
I find that too TBH. The haar was here all day yesterday until the late evening but the temperature was the same inside yesterday as today (like you at 23C) but it feels warmer today. In the winter I have the heating in the main living space set to 20C when I'm here. Some days it's too warm and other days it's cool (and don't say it's my age @Onoff - I know where you live!! ).

Thanks. I will need to see about getting someone out to sort that then, if that's even possible given how difficult it is to get trades in to sort anything out at all here. It looks like it's in a nightmare part of the loft with no headroom at all so may be a crawling on knees job to service it . I knew I had to get round to addressing it one day. If only it was in the boiler room .

What items did you select before and what prices were they? Maybe you can get the same thing elsewhere for about the same price? -
Building control didn’t even look at it. I guess ideally I’d need the loft to be boarded in a path to the damn thing. I assume that’s easier than putting another loft access in next to it?
-
Because don’t I need to change the filters at the very least? I read on another thread that they should be looked at every 3 months. And the description mentions ‘condensate drain’. Shouldn’t that be checked or is that what the thin pipe is for?

there is zero chance of me wandering round in a bikini, in the loft or otherwise! ? ? ?

Thanks. It is what it is, I’m not planning on changing it, but at present I can’t get to it

Inside there are the normal room vents as pictured and the main unit in the loft that I can’t even see apart from what I assume is the main switch for it. There is zero chance of me being able to get to it. So my questions are: I assume that it should have had some maintenance in 9 years although that will be an issue if I can’t get to the main unit? How do I know if it’s working? What settings should i have it on and are the switches likely to be upstairs / downstairs? Any clues where summer bypass might be located? Could that even be the white switch in the boiler room that I thought was to switch the main unit off and on? The silver and black insulated pipes up there are something to do with it I imagine? Not quite in the same league as my heating nightmare but still something I have no clue about.

Outside there seems to be 2 vents as pictured plus a ventilation tile on the roof. Not sure they are all related to this? I can hear it doing ‘something’. Upstairs I can see that one of the vents has a pipe next to it. I assume that’s a drip pipe or something? I can hear lots of ventilation type noise coming from the vent furthest away (pictured) but nothing at all from the nearer one with the pipe.

The only controls seem to be in the boiler room as pictured. 2 speed controllers. Because I’m not sure what each does I always set them the same. There is also a switch to turn the whole thing off. Well I assume that’s what it does but don’t know for sure! The switch is below the controls. According to the list of components purchased there is a summer bypass unit but how that gets switched off and on I’ve no idea!

No loose screws?

I've been in denial about this for a long time - out of sight, out of mind, but I do need to know what I need to do about it so here goes ... Hubby installed MVHR in the house. I've never seen the actual unit and I still can't see the actual until as for some reason it's been installed in the loft and not in the room where the boiler and TS are. It seems that Rega Vent (where it was puchased) created the spec and specified a loft mounted unit so that's what it is. I've dragged out what documentation there is but there is very little that I can find. No manual for the unit so pictures will need to tell the story. The main issue is that I can't get to the unit if anything needs to be done to it now or in the future to service it. The system was installed back in 2009 so it will be old technology no doubt.

There seem to be 2 layers near the hatch. There are possibly 3 layers further over, see photo - I think that's 2 layers plus another one but it's hard to check when I can only stand in the tiny area that is boarded over. It's laid at 90 degrees to the layer underneath it seems, so difficult to tell easily and it seems to expand a lot. I'll leave it all alone and then one day that might be a job for someone to come and do. It's bloody horrible stuff! I wore gloves but it probably wasn't the brightest idea to kneel down up there in shorts. Am itching like mad now

Thought I had better brave a look in the loft. Upside there is a loft ladder and lights up there. Downside, ladders and heights in general terrify me. Made me feel dizzy just looking down from the top. Yes I know that’s pathetic lol. Anyway, there are about 30 spare rolls up there. Only a tiny bit of the loft has been boarded over and I can’t see the joists as the existing insulation seems to cover them up. I wouldn’t feel safe walking up there anyway in truth so the rolls are going to have to stay where they are Apart from the insulation at least there isn’t much else up there. A couple of suitcases, a stack of Pickfords boxes from the move and a few other random boxes so that’s a relief I guess.

I would definitely install it even if you leave it disconnected until it may be used for proper living accommodation. We did that for our planned extension. Put the slab in and the UFH pipes but it wasn’t connected until the extension was built some years later. When you say ‘on all the time’ you can just have it running at a much lower temperature outside the times you intend to use it presumably plus a bit beforehand to allow it to get up to temperature? Presumably a gym can also run at a much lower temperature than normal living accommodation?

Reliable fasteners supplier: know of one.

Nope, not on that item sadly. Well not to me anyway, says Tuesday and: Longer delivery than typical Prime items. In order for us to bring you the broadest possible selection, some Prime items cannot be delivered in less than 2 business days. Most common reasons include the item being restricted to ground transportation, or requiring extra time to prepare for delivery. -

Might the person coming have some they could supply? -
It’s installed up there!! God alone knows why! Could have gone in the room where the TS is instead of that silly central vac thing!
-
Yes! And the recycler in you will be glad to know that someone at work is going to have it to use for the base for his stables after I made a passing comment about the numpties that drove an hour to collect it in a 4x4. Turns out he was about to buy some.

Christ, where do I start with that one!l? Short story. Never looked at it, never touched it, probably should have! I’ll start a different thread in the right place
-
Ha ha - call me Sherlock! Cos I passed it all up there from where it was lying in one of the spare rooms . Simples (although that's a meerkat) . God knows what else is up there though! The MVHR unit is which is a thread for another day ...
