  1. Are these commercially available?
  2. A big boy did it, then ran away. Or a voodoo curse.
  3. You can take a statistical approach. If you know the most likely times, which is based on your system angles and geographic location, you can make sure your HP is set to heat water at those times only. There will be times when it will be more expensive, but overall you should get a lower running cost. This does depend on how you set up your electricity tariff, and your other electrical loads. So first things first, get some data, especially about your current usage. If you think collecting data is expensive and hard work, the price of not doing it is much higher.
  4. Something I have learnt at places I have worked in the past. One guy was so full of shit that a tenacious student did some digging, printed out a few sheets of truth i.e. guy claimed to have a Doctorate, just happened that someone else with the same name, and at the same university, did have one. Then this enterprising student left the printouts in each room that the guy lectured in for people to 'find'. Moral of that was, never upset an Irishman. Actually I have the same name as a fellow lecturer I worked with and we made sure people knew there was a difference. He had a beard.
  5. Not your 'job' anymore I know, but it has been suggested, quite often, about easy links to the usual stuff i.e working out U-Values from multiple layer make ups. I suggested a simple HTML5 calculator, but got shot down as it 'is too difficult', but not by you. I am with @Ferdinand use Google to search the site.
  6. Then under our current system of financing public infrastructure, very little would get done. In my view the government would be better off getting total control of RE, and nuclear planning, it is barmy that a local council can control new national infrastructure. Why we have so many compromised systems. They (the government) could pay for new grid reinforcing and cabling. Been driving past the new pylons for Hinkley Point most weeks recently. Be interesting to see how much time they took to get the agreed route, and if that route is the best one
  7. I disagree, a fair slice of my families wealth is from energy companies. So would you allow people to invest in renewable energy companies?
  8. Bored school kids Bored workforce Bored housewives And blackboards
  9. Current trip up country. 661.4 miles, 46 MPH (includes a couple of very local trips to shops) and 68.1 MPG. Considering the car is 15 years old, 192k miles, and weighs 1.6 tonne, I think the fuel consumption is amazing. Does about 52 MPG pottering about locally with a mean speed of about 30 MPH.
  10. Well I put fuel in the car at Oxford. £1.72 a litre. Been the slowest thing on the road since. Two pictures to sum it up, and still over 100 miles to go.
  11. Welcome Have you considered buying a house, demolish and rebuild? You may find you have much greater choice in location, and it will have services.
  12. Do you now what has actually gone wrong with it. It may be repairable.
  13. That is commendably low.
  14. That is because you have disposed of the evidence. Did you learn your building of that West fellow.
  15. Wycombe Wanders always had a home advantage because of the pitch slope. 11 foot. All changed now they have moved sites. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loakes_Park
  16. I have 1X3W. Just been chatting to my Mother's Carer, she said their monthly bill for electricity only (they have gas) is going up from £400/month to £800/month. There is 4 of them. She did not think that nearly £5k a year on just electricity was excessive. Pointed out that it was horrendously excessive.
  17. Here is my Mother's Smart Meter. Worse than a dumb one as it cannot be read at all.
  18. Was also used to find out where the terrorist were staying in Munich 1972.
  19. I think all the relevant rates are in the building regulation documents. Have you downloaded them?
  20. Except Building Control are the ones that sign things off, not the suppliers. It is not that hard to calculate the individual room flow rates, add them all up, then look for a suitable unit.
  21. I have them. A customer who never gets served.
  22. Joo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensitive Sunglasses. Zaphod Beeblebrox in 'The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy' used sunglasses that turned completely dark at the first sign of danger, thus preventing him from seeing anything that might alarm him. The only drawback: he couldn't see anything, including where he was going!
