  1. Good start, thanks.
  2. TL;DR Drill oversize, then get a steel rod the right diameter, set it level in the hole, fill with grout. Right size hole that is level, correct size and smooth. Perfect every time.
  3. And probably will be for another decade.
  4. Seems to me that ICF is getting mentioned quite a bit. Why is this? Seems that a lot of people like the system, but there have been a lot of problems with it as well. So it is about time that we dis a proper critique of it, may save a lot of tears.
  5. Squirt foam in, easy enough to poke a hole through it with a drill if you have to. You could get some white PVC and stick that over the holes. May look better.
  6. Yes, a good sheep will reverse backwards for you when it gets to a sudden drop.
  7. They can't read or write, why they are (expletive deleted)ing builders.
  8. Had a chat with her after she finished doing a live broadcast about the St. Valentine's storms in 2014. She is very short, slim and extremely cute. Had no idea about the West Country though. She thought it was one small place.
  9. As are drawings and safety notices.
  10. If it was a Velux one, they had problems and were replacing them.
  11. Am I the only one that reads this as raindeer.
  12. Not so sure about that. Something Understood, Desert Island Discs and the now defunked Radio 4 Theme Tune....
  13. Has Mishal Husain. And Marnie Chesterton. Brian Aldridge as well.
  14. A sensible question. Followed by a confused answer. All joking aside, getting energy and power mixed up is giving a very misleading answer. This really does need clarifying. We can take a guess that you mean it can deliver up to 5, or even 8 kW until the batteries have fully discharged. But it could mean it can deliver up to 8 kWh of energy over an unspecified time, at an unspecified power, which is probably not what you are saying.
  15. Peta Watts 10¹⁵ That is impressive.
  16. Try telling teenage boys that I really don't want to think about teenagers turning knobs in the shower. I have had posts cancelled for less.
  17. Just watching basically good, hot water, go down the plughole is enough for me to limit the time.
  18. Just checked mine. Water was £1.9219 Waste was £3.1317 X 0.95 so £2.9751 So £4.9m³ Then add the daily charge of £0.1497. I used 12 m³ over 93 days. So 129lt/day. With my government rebate of £50 a year, and the Water Share credit of £13. Plus the £30 Stop the Drop of £30, my last bill was £33.63. So £0.0028/litre. Really not that bad when I look at it. Does seem perverse that to save water, SW Water makes it cheaper. But at least central government are coughing up a bit to help. Off to have a deep soak in the bath now.
  19. I think you are out, should be 0.3p Mine is the most expensive in the land and was 0.53p/litre last year I think.
  20. Have you thought of a mansard roof? If the steep angle is south facing, it is good for winter PV.
  21. The French.
  22. Short notice I know, but I have to come up to clear out my Mother's home as we may have a buyer. Was chatting to someone on here earlier and I suggested that after a few years of saying we should meet up, we have provisionally decided to meet. I know there are a few others in Mid Bucks and the surrounding area, so all welcome. It has been suggested (that is science talk for 'I said') that we meet at The Five Elms, Weedon, but just noticed that it closes at 5 PM on a Sunday. The only other place I know is The Watermead, just on the outskirts of Aylesbury. I have not been there since I moved away in the late 1990s, so may be horrible, but it is by water. 10 Lakeside, Aylesbury, GB HP19 0FX Suggested time 6 PM. I am open to better suggestions. I did get asked to not go back to a pub at Marsworth once, but then had a call from the Landlady apologising that her husband was drunk. Not been back. I shall leave it here and see who is interested.
  23. Think you answered your own question. Run it though a voltage drop calculator and see what comes out.
  24. Make one. Could be like a rock waterfall, or one in the shape of a fish, or camel.
