Onoff
Just got a few tiles cut ready for a big push! At some stage I've to tile the narrow "shelf", the width of the wall with a mosaic upstand. Tbh this bit was always planned to be tiled so I didn't pay too much attention when plastering along here. I forgot to leave the bottom of the white wall where the mosaics are, unpainted. It's mrpb painted with Leyland Super Leytex. Should I scuff this up or sand down etc pre tiling? Cheers Edited November 17, 2018 by Onoff
Onoff
Going to get some on today! But will it look right @Nickfromwales, not having a full square at the bottom of the mosaics? Doing it "your" way as in backs on first.
newhome
Matches what you’ve got in the other pockets though surely?

Sill tile covers about 50% of a square: One awkward tile to cut then mixing up 'n layin' some!

Nickfromwales
Nah, just go to something that’s not water based so the paint doesn’t soften. CT1 / Sika etc will be fine. Don’t forget to fit the top trim whilst the goop is still ‘wet’.

Nickfromwales
And then “Space, The Final Frontier.........” aka the compound cuts on the bath boxing in. Youd better get more ale and nurofens in for that
Onoff
That seems a lot of work and not a lot to show and yes, they are long nose mole grips: There's a bit of ply these grey tiles sit on. It's covered in duct tape. Once set it comes off and the trim goes on to the tile edge. 13 minutes ago, Nickfromwales said: And then “Space, The Final Frontier.........” aka the compound cuts on the bath boxing in. The tiles coming up the overhang will need a chamfer to meet the trim properly: More fun will be this one: Still going to be left with "sharpish" corners on the trim here but better than it being 90deg. Corners you stick over it st 45 , 90 degrees etc to hide tricky mitre joints ? kind of https://www.trimtraders.co.uk/other-trim-types/trim-and-seal-corner-pieces.html Edited November 18, 2018 by pocster
Onoff
And the faux pas' keep coming! Happy enough with these few: The 5 full tiles to the left are within a mm of the (white) wall so that's good. Finished the shallowest pocket bar the grouting. Trickier the I thought. The thicker grout lines between the mosaics might stand out when grouted: Didn't achieve the aimed for 1mm gap at the top either side. It's OK though down the sides and the sill. However..... Takes a deep breath.....from about here: The tile strip, above the bath pocket, is a bit out: And the other end: Which translates to a tile a 1/4" 'ish out: (Sounds so much better than 8mm.. ). So I'll have to kick the next tile down in a bit...quite a bit in fact. The trim there will be fun. Edited November 21, 2018 by Onoff
ProDave
Looks a lot better than the bathroom I was wiring yesterday. 5mm tile gaps all round except the bottom row that had a 10mm gap.

Keep going. I promised warts and all! Looking down the run it's this "out". Down the bottom I've to put 10mm of adhesive under the 7mm tile to get it at least a little better. In effect I'll get the tiles plumb from here on down. Anyone, how do you invisibly join this sort of trim? I don't want water going inside. Dudda
This is all taking shape. Do you reckon you'll have it done for Christmas? You're making good progress lately with the tiling and it looks sharp. What's left after the grout? Hang the WC and connect the WHB? Anything else?
