One of the things we paid someone to do for us.

Spines are powder coated. Cabling for lights runs inside the spines. Steps made from walnut kitchen worktops. Spindles are solid walnut. Glass is 10mm toughened from Cornwall Glass.

Why walnut? It goes with the breakfast bar made from the walnut tree we cut down, also made by same person (Principle  Constructions based in Cornwall).

Nice!

Thats the first time I've seen the transparent blocking approach to having an open stair that complies with regs. Be interested how that works out (cleaning, etc).

Handrail to be installed on the right?

No plans for a handrail at this point in time

It's a regs requirement isn't it?

It is (part K). It'll get done sometime before completion signoff 🙂

I like the walnut and that it came from your tree. It is also very different colour from nearly all the other stairs you see now.

Looks fab. Well done. Just make sure you coat the timber with something that is UV resistant. Otherwise, in the same way as Mapel turns a bit orange in the sun. Your Walnut will "Fade to Grey" as the song said.
