EverHopefull
Hi, i have been looking at the Bora hobs and had convinced myself that they were a perfect solution to a kitchen problem. Now I have seen this new item from Ikea and wondered if anyone else had? FÖRDELAKTIG Induction hob/integrated extractor. The spec looks ok but the price is temptingly low. Who makes these for Ikea, anyone know?
Moonshine
They suck........ well they must do to extract that way. I would be interested to know how noisy they were.
Mr Punter
Whirlpool used to do a lot of Ikea stuff.

Big Jimbo
I fitted a good few posh one's of these over the years. They take up most of the cab space below them, and i used to have to duct them out under the floor with 150mm ducting. They were a pita to fit them. Seemed to work ok. The posh one's used to cost several thousand. Basically, they are a downdraft extractor.
Moonshine
looks a bit like this https://www.appliancecity.co.uk/cooking/hobs/air-venting-induction-hobs/franke-fmy839hi-83cm-mythos-2gether-air-venting-induction-hob/
ryder72
This will almost certainly be one of the numerous italian contract manufacturers. Typically Airforce, Faber or Elica. Wont be as good but at that price.....
SteamyTea
What happens when you spill a pan of rice down it?
Ed Davies
Interesting but would need careful thought about the routing of the extract pipes or the positioning of the recirculation outlet.
PeterW
Most of the IKEA appliances are manufactured by Whirlpool or Electrolux, induction hobs share a lot of components with the basic branded models.

EverHopefull
I downloaded the manual and it gives options of external venting or recirculation. I did find a video online of some mad looking chef using one of these dubbed in German. The vortex it creates looks pretty impressive!
JFDIY
What happens with external ducting to outside, don't you end up with effectively a long U bend that can fill with water?

Did have a wee look months ago and you can get other high end brands on eBay and through German sellers for 40-50% the price of the Bora's units.
