I seemed to have picked the dryest weeks of the year to try and establish a lawn from seed...any lawn watering system recommendations as I'm currently losing an hour a day dragging a sprinkler about. Thanks

BCO did final inspection yesterday and he said something along the lines of 'I've never experienced a floor like that in a modern house before' ? -
Robomowers - any good?
readiescards replied to readiescards's topic in Landscaping, Decking & Patios
Current favorite is theHusqvarna 315x: https://www.husqvarna.com/uk/products/robotic-lawn-mowers/automower-315x/967650103/ which has inbuilt GPS so it learn the garden and work out where it has not been recently. Will report back once local sales rep been out to see if it is suitable for my lawn shape and slope. -

Nice drying day

Oops it did blow off - but only a minor bit of damage a glue gun fixed. I've been moaning at manufacturer that there should be no flies getting through filters and too my fresh air vents as per and they are finally giving me some things to check. (The filters seem very flimsy things to me and I can't see how they could ever 100% seal) -
Blowing a gale but sunny so giving the mvhr unit is 12 month clean. Not too bad. A few flies in it though.

Ha ha. Well I'm ok with that but would much prefer to increase my self consumption hence my interest in electric BBQs! Might have to consider a hot tub too

IVT Ecolane ASHP - any owners out there?
readiescards replied to readiescards's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
I brought 4 of these, nice and cheap ? However there is no way to secure them to the concrete base - have you simply mounted your ASHP on top of them with and are simply relying on the units weight to prevent it bouncing around? -
Landscaping nearing completion, grass seed going down asap. Going to need a mower or do I need a 'Robomower'? Very rough guess maybe 1000sqm of lawn, with 800sqm of front lawn and various bits (all connected) of it. All fairly smooth and level but a few bits and bobs sticking out here and there (e.g. trees, sewage treatment plant stacks, patios, etc) Anyone got experience of a robo-mower?

Got a reply after filling in the OR form: So looks like I need to contact BT ?
-
I had to get the ashp approved by the DNO to ensure no infrastructure upgrades would be needed, with the implication being I would need to pay

Well I've filled this Openreach form in and will see what happens next https://www.formwize.com/run/survey3.cfm?idx=505d040e0f0e09

MVHR - flies!
readiescards replied to readiescards's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
2018 Spring we have a different type of fly getting through the MVHR. I've been keeping on top of the filter cleaning but it seems more flies are trapped at the terminal than the filters! Oddly the flies have a preference to come out of the vent with the very shortest run even though that vent is nearly 100% closed (it is in the spare bedroom so I tend to close it down alot when there are no guests) In 2017 I took the air exchanger unit out and cleaned it (as per 12 month maintenance cycle) and there were a few flies in it too, though not enough to worry about. However I did notice then that there are various ways air can pass from the fresh air in to the fresh air out without going through the filters or heat exchanger - mainly via the poorly sealing front cover. I tried to add more foam to prevent this but it seems a long way from being 100% sealed. Any one else with a Vent-Axis Sentinel Kinetic Plus B? And if so are you seeing poor filtration? -
Variable Solar Storage with Batteries
readiescards replied to MikeGrahamT21's topic in Energy Storage
I have panels SE and SW facing and wish I could re-position a few of panels to be NW and EW facing as it is frustrating when it is a sunny morning or sunny evening but my panels are not illuminated and I'm buying electric at 3 times the cost of what I'm paid to export it. A battery would change all this but in the meantime I think extending the generation period would have been better than maximizing generation for me. -

Passive Cat Flap
readiescards replied to Barney12's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Gosh that is a serious bit of kit. Might have to get one for my chicken shed when I get that. -
Sure the Vortex require you to have service and emptying contacts? I was recommended a well known plant by the builder for our holiday cottage barn conversion but it needs expensive regular servicing and emptying as well as consuming electric. My own house has Clearfox which requires nether contacts or electric but does need a lot of space and does not have the capacity to handle two properties
