Probably around £4k reduction if we block those weeks. Alternative could be to give reduced rental price with warning about potential noise. Triple glazing better for sound proofing?
-
Nope you lost me there!

Yes, see attached A wall could be possible but it would need to be at the edge of shed - approx 8 metres from the fan entrance - would that still help? Baffles on the front of the fan house: what might they look like?

So the next project is on the cards - currently in planning - a barn conversion on the family farm for holiday letting. 3 bedroom, 120 m2 However it is 'ear-shot' of our wheat and barley storage sheds: https://youtu.be/H3GRG7_M9uw Any suggestions on how to muffle a large fan? (Only runs later August and early September)

So finally everything is in place: * mvhr unit up and running * terminals and valves installed * house pretty much as air tight as it will ever be * Anemometer Tesla 405 borrowed with extra large valve covers - big thanks @JSHarris So to work on balancing. Any tips on how best to approach this? * Screw everything shut and open on longest extract one first get its flow rate right and then open another set it and go back to first readjust? * Set all valves at middleish point and randomly run around house? * Concentrate on extract first? Concentrate on fresh air first? pick and mix? Any other tips? * Place chairs under every valve before starting? * Get 5 tall mates from the pub? * wack the unit up to max and slowly decrease? * count the number of turns needed to add/remove 1litre/sec? Bit concerned this could take all day and night if I just run around the house randomly with the meter! Thanks in advance, Paul

Having spent ages online to Vodafone over the weekend and passed around this person and that I was told the £25/50Gb pcm offer has been withdraw and only the £30/50Gb pcm exists and there was definitely nothing bigger available. Today I've just seen: http://www.4g-internet.co.uk/packages where 100GB pcm is being offered only trouble it is more than twice the £30/50Gb! How daft is that!

Just installed one of these in an unlit passage way, really great and amazingly bright. Got mine of eBay but no cheaper.

Spray foam under room in roof floorboards - expensive option?

Do Internorm offer a window stay/restrictor - we were never offered such an option
-
Ditto went for Internorm. The product quality is great with good air tightness but we did have issues with order lead time due to factory shut down in summer. However we wouldn't buy inward opening windows again. Daft idea. If it rains and you've left the window on tilt the rain can get in if the direction is wrong. You can't put anything on the window cill cos it gets knocked off when you open it. And there is no window stay so a little puff of wind and it blows fully open. Be wary if you want a light colour clad as the drain caps to handle the rain that gets in the frame are black unless hand painted. while giving a reassuring clunk when closing this clunk is rather loud in the middle of the night.

Balancing MVHR system
readiescards replied to Stones's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Is there a link to the updated versions that can be posted here? I , and maybe others, would fine useful please -
Sorted - 30 minutes with some scrap PIR and earthwool. And yes I've run a temp sensor into the bath exit stream (inside a bit of brass) - the aim being to kick the MVHR into boost mode but only when the water is draining from the shower or the bath - don't want my bathtime ruined by any boost extract noise. (untested as yet)

Being a fan of long lazy baths, I often have to top up the water with hot to keep the bath warm. How can I insulate the bath sides and bottom? Or is this pointless as most of the heat will escape upwards.

oh dear sorry to hear that. Hope you got some useful evidence
