  1. Building Control are ok around here- but they’ll also tell you planning are hiding behind covid. being ignored is probably the worst feeling, planning never replied to a single email or phone call. Yeah you may be busy but pick up the phone and give me an excuse at least...
  2. British Gas are on 4 weeks (or were a month ago). The main players were quoting in months.

  7. Is the soft close/hold open bit properly engaged? Do they stay open when used as too hung? I fitted a row of electric ones for a customer and he could Open/ close them all together by iPhone or in series one after the other which looked awesome! I like the sound of external blinds
  8. Norsken lead times are currently into next April.
  9. this wardrobe is looking a likely candidate for mvhr, cylinder, distribution board etc. Just don’t think the utility is anywhere near big enough.
  10. I’ve found an area upstairs- I guess it was a ‘pipe dream’ I’d have a proper little plant room! it’s a shame we don’t have build threads on here, I could show the final plans etc

  14. My reasoning was that in big houses there would be a fair distance anyway? I know the insulated pipe isn’t cheap ? but I don’t want to regret anything!
  15. Morning! I was going to have a ‘plant room’ in the detached garage and duct the services to the house. Ashp, cylinder. The garage is 7m from the house, the plumber thinks deffo cylinder in the house. Any input? I appreciate it will give a ‘dead leg’ of hot water and heat losses? It’s going to be a small house due to planning so I was hoping to save space Orange dot cylinder pink dot ashp blue- ducts

  17. Is it effective or a gimmick? for the outside of a timber frame.
  18. I’ve always drawn my extensions and loft conversions, but for my new dwelling I’ve had nothing but grief and had to get plans drawn.
  19. Probably no soak away and the down pipe goes straight in the ground.
  20. That’s cool- easy to spend outrageously on windows
  21. Bugger- is that bad installation or product?
  22. How have you found Baskil triple glazed windows?
  23. “You all want quality and as cheap as you can possibly get” I think the problem here is that window/door companies are too expensive, and in the right circumstances will slash a colossal sum off their quote making a bit of a mockery of it all.
  24. I think his cost savings cut the ‘pizazz’ out of it- ultimately a folly and waste.
