Bonding Fibreglass to PVC Pipe
Barney12 replied to Barney12's topic in General Self Build & DIY Discussion
Yes. There will be. The bottom skirt will be unscrewed and the cladding screw at the bottom loosened before tucking the soakers up. I just wanted to get all the cutting and placing done ahead of slating to make the job easier and no climbing on freshly laid slates.- 76 replies

Yes, I'm really impressed. It really tones down the Cedar shades which creates a more uniformed finish. I'm hoping it goes a lovely silver grey patina. I found the coverage rate to be a fair bit less than they advertise.

I was only thinking the exact same thing last night. I was going to put a 3mm lip on the edges of the lead but your dent idea is a good one.- 76 replies

Bonding Fibreglass to PVC Pipe

Nearest tree line is to the west about 20-30m away. But I think I'm going to make up a stainless grid for the inlet as getting to the dormer won't exactly be easy. But then a standard gutter would have the same issue.- 76 replies

Well the dry test had lost 1 bar of pressure over night Not sure though if the cheapo dry test thingy from Toolstation is that great? The 15mm push fit connector doesn't exactly feel robust. I best get some H2O into it and test it properly. @JSHarris What did you connect to the pressure sprayer to fill the pipes?

The job is done. If anyone is wondering how fast Sioo:x changes the colour of cedar then look at the centre panel (between the windows) which I didn't install until this morning compared to the rest over a week ago. It was hand applied and I seem to remember @iSelfBuild saying that his hand applied Sioo coated cedar went grey very quickly. As I understand it it's rain and sun that accelerates the process and its lashed it down a fair few times in the last week.

The job is done. Decided on a custom made lead exit for the gutter. It will stop the cedar from getting wet and ensure the water drains onto the slates.- 76 replies

http://www.ukgcva.co.uk/downloads/factsheets/fs_vat.pdf Somewhat technical and aimed more at the provider. But might be worth getting their input? http://www.ukgcva.co.uk/contact.html

Does that even meet the regs? I didn't think it was permissible to have an unprotected joint like that?

Ta Da! Thanks Nick. Dry pressure in test in progress. A wet test is going to need some thought as I need to get close to 80ltrs of water and antifreeze into the pipes with no mains water connection available yet! I'll have to see if I can rig up a very long hose from the garage.

Nice! Love the shape.

A handfull of invoices from a few trade suppliers normally does the trick. As a self builder that's normally not that hard to find. When I wanted a trade card for a tile merchant I just showed a pile of Jewsons pink invoices and they said "OK fine".

Must be related to my window supplier....."B.Odgett & Leggit"

seat = flange lip = flap You want your flange to centre your strap on in the hole. Then the flap ensures a nice area of friction bond with your pipe. I'll get me coat.

Just to +1 what Jeremy has said. If you spot an OpenLeach van in your local area. STOP. Talk to him and befriend him.

Which the seller I linked to does. "Plates are manufactured to BS AU145d British Standard and have the BS mark, the supplier's details in a discreet 2mm height, to conform with current legislation. The spacing of the VRM will be as required by the legislation."

I'm in exactly the same situation. Both the wife and I have private plates. I've used this seller the last couple of times: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STANDARD-PAIR-Front-Rear-OF-UK-NUMBER-PLATES-100-ROAD-LEGAL-QUALITY-ACRYLIC-/352127078963?hash=item51fc68d233:g:AmwAAOSwkI5ZeyyP

The 'legal' aspect of plates is a complete joke. Any seller just needs to say they are 'show plates' (i.e. Not for road use) in their T@C's and the law doesn't apply!

For us on the Dartmoor National Park having windows set back by at least 100mm is a planning condition. I agree with you on flush faced glazing but it can look good in the right designs.

Actually I've just looked at the photo again. Are you sure it's not just the rubber bung that's leaking?
-
The ONLY time I've had a problem with a leaky stack has been with one of those "straps ons". Thye do work but you need to get your hole right, abraid it well, clean it well, plenty of solvent and do the nut up darn tight and leave it for 24h before as much as looking at it. No no reason not to just re-do the "strap on" just take it steady. Also replace that rubber bung for a solvent weld job too. I used one recently on the outside toilet install and felt cheap and dirty for doing it Anyway this is just a rank amateur talking, the resident pro @Nickfromwales will be along soon.

Sorry, can't help. I've never understood the concept of "storing" wine. I prefer the "buy it and drink it" methodology. Repeat as required. @Onoff will be along in a minute with a blueprint for a home brew wine cellar made from concrete rings and 110mm drainage pipe offcuts to store the bottles.
