  1. Nope it took out the RCD. In the end I got fed up with it, ripped the whole lot out and fitted these: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/KBBAT5.html Far better light for a workshop and darn sight simpler to fit. The tangled nest of LED strips is still piled in the corner of the workshop
  2. Sorry but that's a sweeping statement: Schedule (TO SCALE): Supplied Dimensions: Supplied Sectionals: Supplied Issues with supplier: MANY
  3. Good luck. Funnily enough we were only having "my first house" conversations in the office this morning. I remember mine well. Mortgage repossession, tired, flithy, fleas and walls bright orange from nicotine. Until we took up the carpets and scrubbed the walls the smell would make you gag! For the first few months we had: 2 x camp beds 2 x sleeping bags 2 x deckchairs 1 x portable TV (sat on a cardboard box with one of those hopeless indoor aerials) Simpler times!!
  4. Your last line is a MUST. The credit ratings of some of the largest distro's are "Maximum Risk" with bust companies behind them.
  5. Children? #shudder
  6. I would recommend "dice" to help with the decision process
  7. The ones I used in the outside toilet are still going strong after a few months of use. From this seller: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-RECESSED-LIGHTING-PANEL-CEILING-DOWN-LIGHT-ULTRASLIM-ROUND-SQUARE-DOWNLIGHTS-/291235836793?var=&hash=item43cf023379:m:mX_qswwaJIIPGwheFr67isg I would imagine the vast majority for sale on eBay are coming out of the same Chinese factories? If you're going to use these unbranded generic ones then perhaps the answer is to have a good handful of spares?
  8. That does look the dogs danglies!
  9. Oh god I love those meatballs
  10. Now that looks like the baby!
  11. Good find. Purchased!
  12. I've yet to have any formal reply from Internorm. However, the supplier has sat up.
  13. Sorry, I shouldn't add to your anxiety Your question is one that genuinely fascinates me. Internorm appear VERY aware of the issues they have with their volume supply chain partner(s) but seem somewhat disinterested in the issues. I can only assume it's a case of "we like the volume". To my mind they will slowly destroy their brand here in the U.K. But hey what do I know.
  14. It's not the 'turning up' that you need to worry about. It's the 'do they resemble my order?' and 'will the fitters feck them up?' that you need to worry about!!
  15. My memory is rubbish Out of interest what did you do on the external walls with the 38mm service batten? Just pack the boxes out slightly? Or use a 45mm box screwed straight to the back?
  16. Yes standard practice with C-Bus is to add MCB's after EVERY output. Even the 1amp dimmer channels. https://www.superlecdirect.com/p-c60hc101-schneider-electric-single-pole-1a-type-c-mcb?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4_uVwOCz1QIVy1cNCh0AlQgbEAYYASABEgJRHvD_BwE
  17. The video seems to demonstrate no real movement.
  18. I must admit I thought I had found them and posted before but searched and found nothing. I do have a habit of repeating myself though :).
  19. Not sure I understand your question? The surface I guess might be 1-2mm proud due to the mounting tongue but you'd not see that on a skimmed wall? The nipples in the corner are so you can push your board against them to mark your cut out.
  20. There are a number of threads on here about the pro's and con's of metal back boxes vs dry line boxes. I'm still undecided. However, I did stumble across these: http://www.studbox.co.uk/ They seem like the perfect middle ground and seem to be available for circa 60p more than an Appleby box so not bank breaking considering the time saving? The little sticky out nipples to aid the boarders is a great idea (well I thought so).
  21. Cbus outputs are varied but mine will be a mix of 1amp dimmer channels and 10amp relays.
  22. Sorry Clipped to battens in the service void between the pb and the tf.
  23. Stolen from Laser Clipsal C-Bus is a microprocessor-based control and management system for small homes to large commercial/industrial installations. It is used to control lighting and other electrical services such as but not limited to pumps, blinds, heating, air conditioning and audio visual devices. Whether simple ON/OFF control of a lighting circuit, or variable (analogue) type control, such as electronic dimmable fluorescent ballasts, C-Bus can be used to easily control virtually any type of electrical load. Full automation with a powerful programming language is possible with a complete range of touchscreens, logic engines and remote phone/tablet control (iPhone, iPad and Android) via the Wiser range of gateways.
  24. Another pondering question from me I'm just thinking about first fix electrics. We're going for radial circuits for all loads, including lighting. The lighting will be controlled by Cbus Dimmers and Relays back at the cabinet as required. I've done a few 1st fix wiring jobs over the years (inc three with Cbus) and always used 1.5mm cable to allow for potential loads from say large banks of halogen downlighters. BUT, with the LED and low voltage being commonplace (and part of regs) I really cant see much point going over 1.00mm now for the lighting radials to each room. Max run is going to be circa 25m. All enclosed in service voids (uninsulated) behind pb. I know the benefits are pretty limited. Perhaps only; 1)Slightly Cheaper 2)Easier to run 3)More room in the cabinet. Am I missing something?
  25. Oh bother. I ran the 22mm Hep last week
