  1. Landlord should pay the maintenance! if you are the tenant why are you doing all the coatings? strange
  2. Ronseal 2 part filler
  3. Can’t remember think it was some vegetable based product ( in case of a leak) it was 15 pages, it also discussed his PV, and Lead acid battery then move to Lion batteries.
  4. Sounds like you would be better off just installing a new boiler. if you clarify who the people make changes are slow etc as you will need additional cabling/ equipment to go electric and if that’s the attitude of say a landlord the cheapest option is straight swap with a new boiler.
  5. Have you seen this survey? sounds like a good way to pass blame?
  6. What evidence will she have? a crack in an old property? will she have evidence that this wasn’t there before you started? millions of semi detached houses are renovated. assuming the steel work was installed correctly of course I would just be nice and humour the neighbour.
  7. Existing garage. No in roof panels just, surface mounted rails and PV panels- already have them ( second hand)
  8. Good Morning, looking to hear others opinions on roofing materials. the garage is separate from the house, timber frame, used for storage and a bit of DIY. PV panels will be fitted later. initially looked at metal roofing, then thought about torch on felt, then watched some videos on GRP. What’s the most cost effective DIY solution? thanks in advance tony
  9. no he’s the last person in the house, so he’s just fitting equipment probably on price work. the local authority( tenant liaison officer or somesuch name) and subcontractor will have visited each home a few weeks/months before the install date to measure up the house, explain the disruption and check where equipment can go. Back at the office, some basic heat calcs will be done, and equipment ordered and rough layout drawing produced for the installer. He’s just fitting it as quickly as possible. to make as much money as possible- no different from fitting gas central heating to social housing. I used to walk around with the TLO on some jobs back in the day.
  10. The £5k will just pay for the additional paperwork of the scheme and the inflated price of the installers. look at the PV price while Fit was on the go, look now, same install probably £5k cheaper.
  11. Just buy the ready made version of trowelling mastic . You don’t want to ruin the oven?
  12. Google Hugh Piggot. He builts them, sells plans. Living off grid his experience is well worth looking into
  13. Have a look at the old Navitron website, Nowty did this with a culvert under his house, copper coils submerged. Worked for him
  14. Health and safety isn’t over the top it’s there to protect you, your kids, grandkids workmates at work etc. too many people take short cuts when building.
  15. I disagree. You need to provide training and supervision and unless you are qualified to do so, leave yourself exposed. let the professional provide their own equipment
  16. Plus 1 above. It’s to stop the underside of the kitchen units being destroyed and to comply with gas regs https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/help-and-advice/gas-cooker-and-hob-appliance-guide/
  17. That’s one thing I’ve never tried actually, doesn’t appeal though, will stick to burning gas until I’m at an insulation stage to go with an alternative heat source.
  18. No part p in Scotland?
  19. Building control definitely applied, they were all over my house for 20 seconds before the issued the completion certificate

On your drawing connections D&E are connected together- that’s the neutral and earth, so measuring any phase to neutral and phase to earth will have the same reading

    Lathe

neutral and earth are joined together so effectively the same when putting voltmeter on line to earth
