  1. Why would you not want a service for a couple of years out of curiosity? Just time their installation for the move in date, and lay the Ducting for them to use now (ie grey Bt Ducting and a draw cord).
  2. That sounds like a similar need to mine, have you got any you could link me to please?
  3. I have over complicated the garage lights, and now need to simplify. Our electrician has proven himself somewhat of a ''character'' so I am trying to limit our active use of him. The garage lights are controlled via three standard light switches & a PIR. Idea being, the PIR is the main controller for the lights, but there are over ride switches. 2 inside the garage & one in the corridor leading to it. It sort of works, but gets very confusing as to whether a light is on due to PIR (& its timer) or one of the switches....and whether you need to turn it off again, or whether it will turn itself off. Before I ask the electrician to strip it back out again...what would work is if I could replace each of the light switches with an equiv one but that is on a timer itself..... so whatever has turned the light on...we know it will turn itself off again. I found the below off Amazon which looks like it would work, but the switches are all double wired into each other (ie 2 x black and 2 x grey into the back of them), and this one only accepts a single wire. 6A Illuminated Timer Switch Rundown time lag Energy Saving, 12sec-12min Adjustable 2 Wire : Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools Can anyone recommend an equiv switch to the above, but that can take multiple wires in/out to link it to the other switches? Thanks!
  4. Thanks for updating us! Great news, always nice when you recover a difficult situation.
  5. Ours has been fine, but our Humidity is set to 72% now, with boost 50% so it isn't so loud even when it does come on. My sleep is in a delicate place with project issues as is, so I've more or less parked this for now at a higher Humidity then I've liked as a temp solution until I can clear the next couple of weeks. I'll then have another go at playing with it to figure out what's going on. The annoying thing for us was everyone baths showers at 5-7ish, by bedtime Humidity has been cleared and reset to default mode..... Then 2 or 3am it's suddenly decided to full boost, with no obvious triggers. It was in muggy/warm days, so I can only think it's some form of night purge.. I just don't see any setting which controls it.
  6. Yep... Me too. And boy have I lost sleep over the last couple years of our build. It's hard enough when your worrying about the finances, before you 'check up' on the build on the way home from work, mid January, and see the brickies have left small gaps between the insulation slabs along the entire length of wall.... To then end up spending 2 hours adjusting all the insulation for tight fit, in smart office wear freezing to death and late for dinner!!! My wife didn't see what all the fuss was about.
  7. No difference at all, and be warned.... if you're that intent on details and micro worrying you will put yourself into an early grave!!
  8. Yeah, full DPM and there is a 1.5m Canopy above it, also tiled upstands will go below the tiles. Just the colour of the tiles!
  9. Tiler didn't listen to builder about sealing tiles before laying them, tiler figured he'd remove grout afterwards. We now have a large slate wall with extensive dried mortar. Tiler has already spent a day with a pressure washer and diluted brick acid, and it's not looking any better in my eyes. Any thoughts on what I could suggest to him??
  10. Thanks blooda, yeah...whikst bleary eyed a couple times in the middle of the night, I am sure it said c3.
  11. It's difficult to tell....as we have a lot of big sliders which we like to keep open. It only seems to occur middle of the night & always with a ' c3 ' displayed in bottom right hand corner which doesn't appear on any of the other boost modes.....
  12. We have a pre plumbed joules supplied ASHP and 300l tank, ana General setup. I have 4kw of panels on the roof, and would like to get a diverter fitted. I rang joules who frowned on it and wouldn't advise how to fit it as their system is all preconfigured and predesigned etc etc.. Has anyone installed one on a joules packaged kit?
  13. I changed our boost to 50% and left it at 60% humidity for now. I did/do have an issue where it randomly does full boost during the night, despite no settings calling for it... Remote digital display had a c3 showing when it did this which the VA tech team couldn't help with explaining why...
  14. I went with 2 Cat6a per TV point, then in lounge 2 behind TV and 4 in the corner of the room and a duct between corner and TV. AV kit sits in corner of room, with wall mounted TV neatly on the wall! Also did 2 per bedroom TV, 2 for kitchen TV, 2 on kitchen counter, 4 per study, 2 per garage, 2 per CCTV point. Also 2 in garden for possible garden room in future (duct under Patio) and 2 front of house in case of electric gates. Working my way through the networking installation atm... I'll post up pics later!
  15. Another one who hates windows, window companies and window fitters. Low point of our build due to multiple avoidable cock ups... Most we had to take on the chin.
  16. I thought we were talking roof windows to wall windows.... And I thought I had an irritating eye for detail!!
  17. Enjoying this project, keep it up!!
  18. Thanks saveasteading. Out of 'principle' (dangerous word...) I feel something is due to us, but then the builder, his team and the attitude they've all had (positive & supportive) since day one forgives an awful lot of sins..... One we will think about over the next week or two as we approach it. Ill post back with how it goes for others.
  19. We approach the end of our contract, builder has been very very good throughout. Never cheap, but has otherwise been professional, diligent and easy to engage with throughout. Very experienced, 3rd generation family firm etc. He is one of the good guys, expensive but worth it However, project took several months longer then it should have. No obvious reason why, just a complicated design and lots of small delays here and there throughout.... As well as builder juggling multiple big projects. Slow and steady. We do have liquidated damages for delays in the contract, to the tune of £15k ish. Initial rumblings from architects (who started off fantastic, staff change meant they've been very disappointing for last 1/3rd of contract) are suggesting builder is saying his prelims from the delays are significantly more then our liquidated damages, so let's just call it quits,as an opening position. I've pushed firmly back to them saying no, his prelims are due to delays, but delays were at least 50% due to him spreading resource thinly across multiple projects. I want to push him on this. (I can't prove though) Now builders experience, when on our side, has proven invaluable. However, now we are going to need to negotiate liquidated damages 'against him' means he is going to be typically outstanding at managing through it.... Against us!! Architects will do the heavy lift, but I'm going to be say next to them throughout to ensure they earn their money. Any tips or advice? How best to counter the argument of his prelims v liquidated damages, call it quits? We're not expecting much back (he has been so good, we feel we got a fair deal without them) , but would like to try our hand none the less!
  20. Thanks all. Yes, I have just turned legionnaires off, felt the simplest solution. For some reason with joules, I can't reduce the hot water from 50degs as that's their lowest coded set point. As for the "economy" mode, I don't get the choice to adjust this for legionnaires, only the temperature, duration time max duration time and temperature. Joules shrugged off the energy usage is "fine", but their technical help definitely felt as a "system is infallible, just ignore it... I'm sure it's fine" rather then actually understand the qwerks.
  21. Just to update this topic. We had set an "on" time for a slot we wanted it to run during, what we also needed to do was schedule the rest of the time as "off". So, 1 to 4pm the system is on and heats the water.. Then we needed to set a schedule for "off" from 4.01 to 12.59... Daft system, but it seems to have resolved it!
  22. We Insulated around internal walls as well, no harm in doing so and might help with thermal bridging a bit! Also more help for any settlement/expansion.
  23. Sorry guys, not sure I can tell. I've got a couple of photos attached, please let me know if it would help to zoom in on any area! It's a standard pre plumbed joule 300l tank, which the plumber and electrician have installed an extra 2 zone valves for the garage/Towel rail.
  24. Thanks guys, I think it might have been the short cycling. It looked to only be using the immersion heater for the legionnaires, which when combined with 15min durations would lead to huge energy usage without actually warming up the water I think?? Either way I've turned off the legionnaires function, to see if it happens again without it on. If nothing over the next week, I'll turn it on again with the duration set to an hour maybe.
  25. We have a Samsung gen6 ashp, just installed. I have set the DHW to come on during the day to maximise the benefit from our solar panels...heat to 50degs only between 1pm and 4pm. It manages this no problems. What I cannot understand is why I find it heating the water outside of these hours. No where can I see a setting which overrides the DHW timer, and the instructions haven't triggered any thoughts from me. It's difficult to pinpoint if there is a pattern to it'll, but I'll look out for this. Legionnaires cycle is now disabled, so it's not this. Can anyone help educate me on what's controlling it outside of the DHW window please? Thanks in advance!
