.... is this so she doesn't have to talk to him as much...??? I was at one point going to merge the two bathroom threads but you have to do it so it interleaves the responses and at nearly 100 pages in both......

Dulux have just changed the name of their Diamond range so its appearing in the clearance places. I've bought 5l of Diamond Satinwood for £40, instead of the £92+VAT that it is in most places...

I plan on adding a couple of cheap inline filter boxes and using car pollen filters as they are reasonably priced and disposable.

And I think you’re going to hit an issue with eaves height if you’re not careful with your roof build up ...

And being pedantic that hanger is upside down .....

Building Control vs Heating System Design
PeterW replied to mike2016's topic in New House & Self Build Design
Can you explain that a bit more..?? Does this mean you have to start using accredited installers for everything, as if it is then it would crucify any sort of self build market- 7 replies

Roughings as in internal studwork..? Is the frame just the external frame..? Got any plans ..?
-
I had no idea these ever existed, or that there was a market for them....! FridgeCam And only £149....

Velux is a roofers job, and takes 2 hours tops per window in an open frame. Joiners frame out for them to the right size and then felt and batten straight over. If its sarked then cut the opening but still go straight over with the membrane.
-
You have 2 coats more than most people... and the membrane has now gone off so going over it again would possible cause issues as it is supposed to be re-coated within 24 hours of the last coat. Leave it and get some tiles on..!

Bath Surround / Boxing In, and concealed pipework
PeterW replied to Onoff's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Beware of these at medium and low water pressure - they don’t run properly without a good flow. The bigger the head the higher the flow needed -
So whatever you do there you will need at least two steels if you go SIPs and steels at 8m long are big and expensive.... If you want to save cost and do more DIY then look at reducing the size to use standard sizes of product - if you went the SIP route from memory they make them in 6m lengths so you could potentially use these off the shelf assuming they meet the span requirements without central support. The other radical option would be to split the building into a pair of 4x3m blocks with a spine wall and then everything becomes standard - you can put a pair of double doors or just an opening between the two rooms but it would allow flexibility later

Which timber frame company are you using ..? They will have recommended installers who should be able to give you a price and duration

Forgot that @newhome only joined in Feb 2018 and this thread goes back to Ebuild days ..!!! -
Remember that mantra ...?? Thin Cheap Warm - pick two..?? That roof is heading the same way ..!! Sips are not cheap ...

You could lose the pillar in the wall as it would poke out 75mm and then the steel or timber would sit on it and then infil the gaps with insulation and over the top with 25mm all round...?

WC Concealed Cistern Access in a Fitted Unit?
PeterW replied to MAB's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
I was about to say the C&L ones are horrific - read the comments .... that was £280 in the sale and it’s still over priced at that..!! None of the whiteware is finished properly and on one I refitted for friends the WC outlet was oval..! -
Only issue with plating a beam in a flat roof is the monumental cold bridge it creates unless you build a flat roof with all the insulation on top of the deck. For ease and speed I would use 140mm blocks but put a block on edge in the middle of each front and back run and make a short pillar and then drop the steel on that. It can be sloped front to back easily enough and the joists run left to right. Canilevering the front overhang wouldn’t be a problem.
-
there is but it’s negligible and those blocks are double the price of ordinary ones so you would need to spend a lot on heating to make that difference up ..!! You may also find 140mm cheaper and again they don’t need a pillar
-
Pointless using aircrete really - just use normal mid or heavy blocks as they are cheap.

Who makes those @Nickfromwales -
M5 won’t be man enough - it will bow under the weight of the marble tiles the next user is planning to fit with it so you need to use M12 and be a man about it... And don’t forget the CE Mark on it..!! (CE - Clive Engineering...)

As I’ve said before, I think the ANPR is broken at the local one and 7-8pm seems to be trade deposit time .....
