Depends what they term “trade” and the rules for their accounts. -

Doesn't have to unless he is doing full supply and fix and it’s part of the allowable list of items. -
Just to confirm - IG recommend a batten tight behind the bottom edge to stop twisting. If that isn’t there, it’s not installed according to Manufacturers Instructions

Water Connections
PeterW replied to nod's topic in Self Build VAT, Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), S106 & Tax
Nope - they are fees that cannot be zero rated -
Ok so I’ve no idea which sort you’re looking at, but this is an IG Timber Frame lintel - the black line is the lintel

Ground floor for bungalow: joists better than a slab?
PeterW replied to Dreadnaught's topic in Timber Frame
Sounds ok but would still want to see the edge detail - fully filled Cellulose will sound solid but I would want joists at 400 centres for rigidity. -
Ground floor for bungalow: joists better than a slab?
PeterW replied to Dreadnaught's topic in Timber Frame
How are they planning to insulate under the floor ..? If they are planning to build some sort of cassette type floor it will be very rigid however you need to understand the edge detail as it will be above the ground and you need to stop stuff getting underneath. -
Probably an IG lintel then if it was galvanized. They are pretty common, look like a sloping “L” and are fairly easy to get
-
I’ve never seen them asked for. There seems to be an assumption that it’s been done correctly, only thing I’ve seen checked is the going and the headroom.
-
That thin bit of steel is a timber frame lintel - probably a Catnic. It will be twice the price of a concrete lintel - it’s a specialist piece of kit.

Also worth when doing a new chimney to keep it out of the attic / internal wall space. Couple done recently have used an external build up so for a significant part the chimney is outside the main structure -reduce potential damp to a minimum.
-
No because I think he forgot to put it in, and it should be below the concrete layer.

Already responded ... Jewsons don’t put prices unless you log into your account. It also depends on quantity - for example I use MKM and my last blocks were 94p as I only bought 2 packs, previously a 14 pack order cost me 89p each Your builder will get different prices to you, just because he buys more.

Ok - So if you had a section plan you would see it “should” go either : 150mm Hardcore > DPM >100mm Insulation > 100mm Final Slab OR 150mm Hardcore > 100mm Base Slab > DPM >100mm Insulation > 75-100mm Sand cement screed I think you “think” you should be getting the latter, although the builder really should have done the former as the height build up will be less. If he’s only putting 50mm in then it is roughly half the cost - the remaining cost would cover the 22mm chipboard which should be P5 spec 22mm tongue and groove, glued as a floating floor over a DPM and insulation.

Pressure or flow ..? Pressure is perceived by the “blast” from the shower head but is easily modified with a new shower head with less or more holes. 9l/min is a decent flow, just then need to ensure you have the static and dynamic water pressure behind it to give you the “experience” you want.

Stop-valve key - trying to source and Intex 2 spare
PeterW replied to ToughButterCup's topic in General Plumbing
United should have left a key for that. Contact them, or if they don’t then contact Talis who make them. -
Setting up / balancing my MVHR
PeterW replied to ProDave's topic in Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
It’s all here ..?? https://www.gov.scot/publications/building-standards-2017-domestic/3-environment/314-ventilation/ As per usual, it refers to an outdated CIBSE standard (2001 vs 2016) but if you want to read the full CIBSE standard there is a copy here -
You would need a 6x4 tower to be comfortable and that would be around £2k inc VAT for a decent one. Hiring that size is going to be upward of £200 a week, and then you have roof ladders on top. TBH I would be getting the professionals in - you don’t get a second chance if you slip from that sort of height.
-
In your case the 100mm concrete is the top layer you can currently walk on.
-
Don’t change the window - you don’t need to as you’re creating problems you don’t need Ask the builder where the insulation is - he’s the only one who knows, so if he can’t tell you then no-one can. Both problems answered.
-
So I know why your BCO wants 1150... they will need a window that opens min 500 for fire egress I expect.
-
Would need to be a parallel link from the mains - potentially a larger bore as you’re effectively creating a local hydrant. Check with your local fire officer - they are normally amenable to a cuppa and a biscuit...
