  1. Doh ! . For reasons unknown I put 2 tiles in the rear of the recess . If I just rotated the full tile would of got rid of the grout line . What was I thinking !! If SWMBO says nothing then that’s good - if she mentions it I’ll just stick a tile on top ! . Those ain’t coming out an easy way . Must be getting tiling fatigue syndrome ( TFS )
  2. Could you not just mix watery grout and tip it Ali g the grout line ? . Once that sets re grout ? . Are you being lazy ?? Spell check really “ all along “ becomes “ Ali g “ !!!
  3. Floors back buttered it is then!
  4. I think that video was one of Nicks efforts when he was on holiday in the USA.....
  5. I’ve watched numerous videos on tiling a floor . Do you / should you back butter ? Some videos do - some don’t ! Back of most tiles are fairly level and no obvious voids . Also some just twist the tile down ( can’t see how that works except for the 1st tile ) - some lay square then gentle rubber mallet tap ..... I’m guessing there is no right way ? Just a choice of approaches ??
  6. I’m not worried ! But yes ! If my floor was like that with movement- it’s a good thing to be aware of
  7. Right ! I’ve knocked the corner of every tile ffs ! . One is hollow . @Onoff stop putting up these tiling horror movies ! They scare me too much
  8. I swear one corner moves ! ( outside the shower area ) . Not like in the video though - perhaps a fraction of a mm . Or my eyes are tricking me !!! . I need to walk away from the tiles . I was confused how he suggested water / vapour can get behind the tiles ( assuming no gap of course ) . Surely that simply shouldn’t happen ?
  9. I thought it was a really good job ? Sad thing is I went round pushing the corner of my tiles to see if they moved ...
  10. With some walk on glazing obviously!
  11. Just re read original post ? yeah Roman tray heavy !!! ?
  12. Roman stone tray and merlyn shower enclosure . Not cheap at all - but excellent quality
  13. Got one . It’s the sawing action to get a perfect clean cut that’s the issue
  14. Yes . Only about 2mm thick . I need to do 45 degree mitres so holding the metal in a mitre block and a dremel not really do able . I googled hss blade for a hacksaw - that worth a go ?
  15. Yeah I thought that. But that requires me holding the multi tool perfectly straight - which doesn't seem to come naturally ....
  16. Ok. - thought I tried that ; new saw aswell - I assume I want a saw with a really fine tooth blade ?
  17. Tried a few hacksaws etc on a mitre block . Cuts never really good enough . Is there a specific saw that does a perfect job on this ? ( ignoring my ability of course )
  18. Ummmmm , I think so ! Need to check original order to be certain.
  19. For reasons I now remember! Toilet flush plate a little to recessed ! . Don’t have any geberit flush plate buttons to hand but assume I can extend the presumably plastic plunger . Reason this is so recessed is I had problems getting the waste in as right next to concrete lintel on one side and ufh in screed on the other .
  20. Go (expletive deleted) one
  21. 50 quid says no
  22. @Hyside I think it was JCT 21.2.1 insurance. It was about 1K about 6 years ago. Only was valid I think for about 6 weeks. So allows for the dig out and then any 'issues' afterwards. It helped quell neighbours minds. I think from memory if there had been a problem at any property the excess was something like 12k per property!!!!!!!
  23. Literally any trade I need I get a recommendation from someone I know . I had a rubber flat roof done and it was sh*t off checkatrade or similar . I nearly knocked the guys teeth out at the “ quality “ of the work . It leaked instantly. I feel your pain
  24. I did it and I’m a fool ??
  25. Yeah - I meant get a guy to dig the hole unless you do have a digger handy - then build the rest . I got a guy with a 40 ton digger - not something I really want to do
