Not sure . How do I extend the brass bit though ?

I did think that . If it was copper I’d be f’d

I did actually allow for it . I allowed 10mm for tile ; 5mm for adhesive . Checked this when it wasn’t tiled and backer board was on . What I didn’t allow for was tile adhesive is more than 5mm also the square collar is around 5mm . So a bit of ‘drift’ adds up . I was actually more worried about it being too far forward - so I guess over compensated. If I did it again I would deliberately leave this tile out and the backing board . Would be easier to judge and place then . Live and learn

Shouldn’t be cheap screws ( but could be ) I always buy Spax . Already thought to undo screws by hand - didn’t want to risk burring them . Once I can access all 4 - will unscrew them about 10mm or so - should be able to judge it better then .

Can’t sleep - this keeping me awake . Be nice if the valve was on a caddy with a screw at the front that can move the whole assembly back and forth . Anyway found an old photo . Looks like in theory it should come forward ok ...

Actually I can think of something that would pack it out and give me access . But let me get those 4 screws out first !

On the ensuite . Those screws are a long way back . Even if I accessed them all and removed how the hell do I pack behind them ?

No idea if pipework has enough play ! Will find out ! . Now what about that “ what do I do with it “ o ring ??

Took SWMBO’s brand new tv to site ( so I can sort Ariel ) . Screen smashed ? Not a good day today !!

Yeah but I use all the spares for my f ups ! Then there are no spares ? Looking at the ensuite one again . I’ve marked in pencil the face plate corners . Might be able to dremel a wider opening so I can get to the fixing screws and perhaps pack them out

@Nickfromwales unless roper Rhodes come back with a mega solution to the ensuite valve being recessed to much I’ll smash the £&£&& tile out ! Got to make sure tile supplier still has some in stock first !!

Ok . The square collar has an internal o ring which does indeed go against the spindle collar . It’s this other o ring I don’t get . Taking it all apart , putting it on the collar ( so it would have a o ring inside and outside ) it won’t fit in the face plate . You can see it’s mega tight

You mean the bathroom one ? I can’t see where these o rings sit ( those collars are the only things with a ‘notch’ for something . The collars do have a o ring in them already ( which presumably goes against the spindle shroud ) .

Noooooooooo ! Playing with the main bathroom one ( as it’s easy to adjust ) . Instructions show none of this but hey .... Black o ring on reverse - this makes sense ! . But the square chrome collar can still turn !

Main bathroom easy . Must of sub consciously anticipated an issue . Can simply push the whole fitting forward ! Can gain 10mm no issue ?? Ensuite though ... erm ..... can’t access from the rear !!

@Nickfromwales got you . This ensuite valve I can’t move forward without smashing the wall apart ( ain’t going to happen ! ) . So can I ‘stick’ something on the end of those spindles to gain 15mm ?? Or anyone got some insane skills to ‘cut’ 15mm off the handles ! ?

Took this end off . By making the screw loose I can gain a few mm . But now of course it wobbles ! Is this a ‘standard’ fitting ? ( need a longer one ! ) . Or what’s a good way to ‘pack’ the end out to make it longer ?
