Bath Surround / Boxing In, and concealed pipework
Onoff replied to Onoff's topic in Bathrooms, Ensuites & Wetrooms
Got the mitred corner ply in (temporarily ) and each edge fixed where the red clouds are. Pretty secure tbh. Just playing with the shower valve and riser rail positions... Thereafter I'll insulate the Hell out of that corner! -
Weights duly knocked off and back in the tank! The rust on the wheel is being transferred to the sacrificial anodes (aka bolts).

Boiler, buffer, thermal store or UVC? UFH with PV

1) If anyone's seen it they're trying to forget it. 2) If it does get published it will vie with @pocster's avatar for depravity. Let sleeping dogs etc...- 60 replies

Specifying our roof; cement board and OSB3
Onoff replied to ToughButterCup's topic in Roofing, Tiling & Slating
I, possibly mistakenly, re-roofed the kid's old Wendy house with 18mm OSB3 and then painted both sides with No Nonsense wood treatment. Pretty sure the stuff damages/softens the "glue" that holds the OSB together as the edges have "grown" and they've never been wet.- 20 replies

Do come back, in detail with what the builder suggests. He might be as "knowledgable" about structures as the original who put that RSJ in , very persuasive / out to make a quick buck or he may be very good. At the end of the day he's not an SE. I presume your survey didn't pick anything up was it just a basic one?

Just messing with the ply tonight. Screwed & glued to the fillets. Lack of tea stopped play early....though she did do a nice chilli! -

I think I've proposed that exact fitting myself in the past! However...it would mean a soldered joint deeper in the wall. If I go with @Nickfromwales idea of the soldered joint close to the front then if it does go tits up and leak I've only got to break one tile out and I can get at the fitting easily. I'm aiming for no joints in the wall other than where the pipes connect to the shower valve. -
I believe washing soda itself has weed killing properties. In the States where soda blasting is big they sell the waste residue to the rail companies. My missus wants to "pour some on the patio" to test it's effectiveness at removing the green algae(?). "When I've done yer wheels luv!" Tbh when I've got the heavy stuff off I'll give them a grit blast before painting but this should save on the blasting grit. Not sure whether to knock off the balancing weights that are on there?

Bye bye rust!

Around a tenner for both and I used my last (£20) voucher to buy them and some other bits.

Need to derust a couple of steel wheels. And to think everything in the photo was being thrown out! My 38 year old CB pack made from a battery charger: 10ml of these per litre, so 350ml into 35 ltrs of water: And leave to ferment: Safety first: Quite why SWMBO moans...

Just bought the 6 & 10mm ones in the link above!

I have a half acre skip I'll have you know!
-
Don't skip them! Looks like the one Easygates stock: http://www.easygatesdirect.co.uk/store/racks My BiL went with that on his as did my mate when we did his. I went for metal on mine as a bfo heavy gate! Plastic are a lot quieter but not as hard wearing though perfectly adequate for most. Ebay them or hang onto them. How many? How much do you want for them?

The clever people will be along shortly once they've recovered from their jet lag! On a serious note I'll be following their response closely for when I come to do similar. Sunamp?- 60 replies

I LOVE the taste of Diet Coke unfortunately. I enjoy the odd ond as a pick me up. Rarely drink it though as it makes my joint aches worse I'm sure. Can't stand "full fat" Coke (too sweet) or the caffeine free (why, as you say) ones.

Peter and Will didn't drink then?

Fault on Kingspan Air Source Heat Pump
Onoff replied to philiom's topic in Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP)
Numpty know nothing here.... If you've lost the anti freeze in the system as in liquid volume, could that in effect give rise to a LOW pressure fault, something the system doesn't detect as such? -
Be interesting to see how much they get when they weigh the cans in let alone the copper & brass!

Cheers. The wall tiles are 400x250x8 and the floor tiles 330x330x8. I was thinking this for the floor: https://www.screwfix.com/p/rubi-open-handle-10mm-notched-steel-trowel/7539f Could I get away with a 6mm notch for the walls? https://www.screwfix.com/p/rubi-open-handle-6mm-notched-steel-trowel/6228f#_=p Screwfix do pricier Rubi trowels than above, (like 3x the price) in 6 and 10mm with "45deg notches to improve coverage and ease of use", worth it or not?

Thinking ahead... I'm going to look at putting in some strong mounts for a future shower seat. Do they tend to have a Geberit style frame, standard fixing centres etc? The time it's taking and the state of my knees, back, joints in general etc I might as well fit the seat now!
