I've got this possibly irrational, possibly not, worry about interstitial condensation in any voids I leave. Unfortunately as the walls taper I can't always avoid it. If I fill this bit between the battens then 25mm pir will sit flush with the front of the battens and be touching the Celotex behind on the rhs. On the left though there'll be a 1/4" gap between the rear of the 25mm pir and face of the Celotex. Best I can do is foam the edges before it goes in so there's hopefully an "airtight" void. In the floor is a really good shout for those rocks. Too late in the bathroom but maybe I can incorporate elsewhere.

Aqua Panelling fitted loose in the last pocket: That's 50mm of Celotex behind (on an internal 1' thick solid wall) with the 25mm timber frame in front: Not sure if I should pack with more pir before I put the Aqua Panel on: Or leave it hollow behind: ?

It'll have some crappy ornament on it no doubt! I had half a thought to incorporate, in some way some of the wife's late cousin's geology collection in the pockets...maybe glazed...lit...?

A few random thoughts: Does the wall have a dpc? Any pillars? Don't be too quick to paint it after rendering. Is levelling off the mortar joints and just painting an option? What way does your side of the wall face?

How did you learn to knapp? As I understand you have to look for natural "fault" lines?

I can't see why it would cause a problem. You'll get the OK from your neighbour I assume?

If I haven't asked before do you knapp your own flints or just lay them as they come?

Pretty sure adders eat smaller snakes including their own. We see in order of frequency slow worms, grass snakes then adders. I've seen a couple of whoppers (adders) down here at least 2' long and that's not a fisherman's tale Guaranteed if I lift the compost tarp there'll be a hiss and an invariably large grass snake. Yep same area. Small world. Hugely impressive seeing the snakes swimming looking for frogs. Slow worms are indeed legless lizards. We get some big ones about 18" long. If you look carefully you can see "bumps", the remnants of legs. They have vestigal pelvic and shoulder blades too. They crap over you too and shed part of their tail if you (or the cat) grab it. Always makes me laugh the best way to check if it's an adder is to check if it has a vertical pupil (V,' vertical = viper). The adder is also known as the Northern Viper. Like I'm going to get that close! We just tell the kids to come and get us if they see any sort of "snake".
